𝙍𝙀: 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙫𝙮 𝙧𝙖𝙞𝙣𝙛𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙙𝙪𝙚 𝙩𝙤 𝙎𝙤𝙪𝙩𝙝𝙬𝙚𝙨𝙩 𝙈𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙤𝙤𝙣 (𝙃𝙖𝙗𝙖𝙜𝙖𝙩)

The Mines and Geosciences Bureau, Region 6 warns that the heavy rainfall may trigger landslides and floods in the areas of Western Visayas classified as susceptible to landslide and floods based on the Geohazard Maps (1:10,000 scale).

It is advised that the LGUs refer to the Geohazard Maps previously distributed to the respective provinces/municipalities/cities and attached to this Advisory, HazardHunterPH website, MGB 6 website and page, and take precautionary measures to include possible pre-emptive evacuations if necessary. Roads and bridges prone to landslide and flood hazards may also be closed if necessary based on actual conditions on the ground.

What You Should Do:
✅ Stay alert for any signs of increase or decrease in flood levels, and watch over areas near rivers, slopes or drainage canals
✅ Report any signs of soil movement, water rising fast, or muddy water.
✅ Inform your respective barangay officials if you notice cracks in your walls, tilting of floors and posts in sloping areas.

The SALN is a sworn document that declares a government employee's assets (what they own), liabilities (what they owe), net worth, business interests, financial connections, and relatives working in government within the fourth degree of relationship to help prevent conflicts of interest.

The filing must be done annually on or before April 30 (based on the employee’s financial status as of December 31 of the previous year), within 30 days after assuming office, and within 30 days after separation from government service.

ILOILO CITY — The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Region VI has successfully maintained its Integrated Management System (IMS) certification following the recent conduct of the NQA Surveillance 2 Audit on July 13, 2026, at the bureau’s Office of the Regional Director, with auditors recommending the continuation of its ISO certifications for quality, environmental, and occupational health and safety management systems.

The review was presided over by the auditors, Mr. Rannie Bernardino and Ms. Thesz Bernardino. Whereas, present from the MGB VI were the Regional Director Cecilia L. Ochavo-Saycon, Integrated Management Representative (IMR) Engr. Lucius P. Sucgang, Pollution Control Officer (PCO) Engr. Prudencio C. Bulawan, IV, Safety Officer (SO) Engr. Vicarthur A. Tango-an, division heads, and other key personnel.

Ochavo-Saycon, participated with fellow member agencies of the Regional Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (RTF-ELCAC) VI during its Second Quarter Full Council Meeting 2026, held at Sam’s 21 Hotel in Iloilo City last July 14, 2026, highlighting its continuous commitment to the government’s Whole-of-Nation Approach in advancing peace, security, and sustainable development across the region.

It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of our esteemed Mine Safety, Environment, and Social Development Division Chief, Engr. Ronald C. Villamora.

As we mourn over his loss, may we remember him in every way he showed up not just as a remarkable leader but a kind and loving colleague, friend and father.

Throughout his years of service, Engr. Villamora was the epitome of integrity and responsibility in everything he did, never failing to show his unwavering commitment to public service. Beyond his professional dedication, it was his genuine kindness, warmth, and compassion that left a lasting mark on everyone who worked alongside him.

He was not just a leader, but a mentor and a true friend to many of us. We extend our deepest sympathy to his family, friends, and loved ones during this difficult time.

Thank you for your service, Engr. Ronald Villamora. We will always remember you and the beautiful memories you have left behind here at MGB Region VI.

𝐈𝐍 𝐏𝐇𝐎𝐓𝐎𝐒 | DENR Region VI Welcomes Undersecretary Jonas R. Leones During Meet and Greet and Oath-Taking Ceremony

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region VI, alongside with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), Environmental Management Bureau (EMB), and respective PENROs and CENROs, welcomed Atty. Jonas R. Leones, DENR’s Undersecretary for Policy, Planning, and International Affairs, during the Meet and Greet and Oath-Taking Ceremony at the DENR 6 Courtyard last July 14, 2026.

The activity highlighted the significant milestone for twenty-one (21) newly appointed and promoted personnel from different DENR field offices across Western Visayas. It was presided over by Undersecretary Leones, together with the Director IV and Special Assistant to the Secretary for CORDS VI Atty. Cleo Sabado-Andrada, DENR Region VI OIC Regional Executive Director Atty. Ramar Niel V. Pascua.

In the message, Undersecretary Leones reminded the new appointees and promotes, as well as all other employees, to stay true to the Department's commitment to environmental protection and its service to the Filipino people.

“A higher position is not simply greater authority, it calls to listen more carefully, decide more fairly, and serve with more faith. Never allow to create distance between you and the people you serve…lead by example,” Undersecretary Leones stated.

Following the ceremony, officials and representatives from the DENR Regional Office, respective bureaus, and field offices, gathered at the DENR Activity Center for a coordination meeting to discuss pressing environmental concerns, organizational priorities, and strategic plans for the continued delivery of programs and services throughout Region VI.

Under Republic Act No. 7942, 𝗲𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗼𝗽𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗱𝗲𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱.

To do this, they may conduct geological, geochemical, and/or geophysical surveys, as well as remote sensing, trenching, test pitting, drilling, and other methods to help gather information about the possible location, size, quality, and quantity of mineral deposits.

‼️𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁: 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝘀 𝗡𝗢𝗧 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗮𝗺𝗲 𝗮𝘀 𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴. During exploration, minerals are not yet extracted or commercially produced. It is simply the process of studying and evaluating the area first.
