𝐖𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇: During the recent Kapihan sa PIA Western Visayas episode, the Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH WV CHD) is advising the public to take immediate health precautions as transboundary haze from Indonesian forest fires continues to affect the region's air quality.

DOH WV CHD Assistant Regional Director Dr. Mary Pauline Angelique C. Gestosani emphasized the need for vigilance and proactive health measures, particularly for vulnerable populations, as the haze reaches the region through the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

𝙎𝙩𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙜𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙏𝘽 𝘼𝙬𝙖𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨, 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙢𝙤𝙩𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙃𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙩𝙝𝙮 𝙇𝙪𝙣𝙜𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙋𝙖𝙨𝙨𝙞 𝘾𝙞𝙩𝙮

In celebration of the National Lung Month, the Department of Health Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH WV CHD) in partnership with the City Government of Passi, through the City Primary Healthcare Facility, conducted a Tuberculosis (TB) Awareness Program and Interactive Discussion last August 27, 2026, at the Passi City Arena.

The activity brought together health workers, partner agencies, and community representatives to strengthen awareness on TB prevention, early detection, proper treatment, and treatment adherence. It also highlighted the important role of every individual and community in preventing the spread of tuberculosis.

Passi City Mayor Stephen A. Palmares reaffirmed the local government’s commitment to supporting programs that protect and promote the health of every Passinhon, while City Health Officer II Dr. Phoebe Palomo emphasized the importance of early diagnosis, completing treatment, and active community participation in the fight against TB.

The program also featured messages from Dr. Bea Camille F. Natalaray, Regional TB Medical Coordinator of DOH Western Visayas Center for Health Development, and Dr. Rodney R. Labis, Provincial Health Officer I of Iloilo Province, and Mr. Cyril Maloco, City Budget Officer.

An engaging interactive discussion was facilitated by Dr. Ma. Cecilia Momville, Dr. Eli John Berame, Dr. Analyn Jumeras, members of the Center for Infection Control and Treatment (CICAT), and Dr. Jewel Mae Quiñon, from Passi City Health Office alongside this activity is an inspiring testimony from a TB Champion.

The activity was also activetly supported and attended by the Philippine College of Chest Physicians - Iloilo Chapter and Philippine Society for Microbiology and Infectious Diseases - Western Visayas Chapter, two of the active and supportive medical societies in Western Visayas.

As a community, we can breathe healthier, live healthier, and build a TB-free community.

DOH: ALAMIN ANG KAHULUGAN NG BAWAT KULAY AT ANTAS NG AIR QUALITY INDEX (AQI) PARA MAPROTEKTAHAN ANG KALUSUGAN

Para maprotektahan ang kalusugan ng iyong pamilya, subaybayan ang mga opisyal na anunsyo ukol sa kalidad ng hangin sa inyong lugar mula sa DENR-EMB o sa inyong lokal na pamahalaan.

Maaari ring makita ang real-time AQI sa inyong lugar sa link na nasa comment section. Sa kasalukuyan, mariing pinaghahanda ang mga taga Visayas at Mindanao para sa posibleng pag-abot ng Haze sa dalawang rehiyon na ito.

Kung hindi maganda ang air quality sa inyong lugar, tandaan ang mga sumusunod:

✅ Magsuot ng mask kapag kailangang lumabas ng bahay at iwasan muna ang mabibigat na outdoor activities.
✅ Mag-ingat lalo ang mga bata, matatanda, buntis, at may sakit sa puso o baga, at ihanda ang kanilang mga gamot.
✅ Para sa mga nagtatrabaho sa labas, magsuot ng mask at regular na magpahinga sa loob ng mga gusali. Laging unahin ang proteksyon sa kalusugan.
✅ Maging maingat sa pagmamaneho dahil sa mababang visibility mula sa haze.

Sakaling mangailangan ng tulong, tumawag agad sa National Emergency Hotline 911. Maaari ring pumunta sa mga Health Center at YAKAP Clinic para sa libreng konsultasyon, risk screening, mga laboratoryo, at libreng gamot para sa hika o mild-to-moderate pneumonia.

Para malikawan ang halit nga dulot sang Haze, himuon ang masunod:

✅️Bantayi ang opisyal nga air quality advisories sang DENR-EMB kag DOH.

✅️Limitahi ang dugay nga pagguwa, ilabi na kon apektado sang haze ang inyo lugar.

✅️Hatagi sang dugang nga paghalong ang kabataan, tigulang, kag may balatian sa pag ginhawa ukon tagipusuon.

✅️Kon kinahanglan magguwa, magsuksok sang N95 ukon kaangay nga mask.

✅️Isira ang mga bintana kag pirtahan kon madamo ang haze.
