INDIVIDUAL ARRESTED FOR ILLEGAL POSSESSION OF A FIREARM IN BARANGAY SULANGA, MUNICIPALITY OF CABATUAN!

Cabatuan, Iloilo – An individual was arrested in Barangay Sulanga, Cabatuan as part of the intensified campaign against loose fi****ms conducted by personnel of the Cabatuan Municipal Police Station under the leadership of Police Captain Mary Dhen M. Gerbolinga, Officer-in-Charge. The operation was carried out at around 6:46 AM on Thursday, August 6, 2026, in Barangay Sulanga, Cabatuan, Iloilo.

The suspect was identified by the alias "Mando," 49 years old, married, and a resident of the said barangay. He was arrested by virtue of a Search Warrant issued by the Executive Judge of Branch 76, Regional Trial Court, 6th Judicial Region, Janiuay, Iloilo, dated August 4, 2026. During the implementation of the warrant, police recovered from the suspect's residence one (1) homemade long-barrel 12-gauge shotgun and one (1) magazine.

The suspect is currently under the custody of the Cabatuan Municipal Police Station Custodial Facility while facing charges for violation of Republic Act No. 10591, otherwise known as the Comprehensive Fi****ms and Ammunition Regulation Act of 2013.

Gerbolinga, Officer-in-Charge, remains steadfast in its campaign against loose and illegal fi****ms to prevent violence and safeguard the community. The station continues to uphold peace and order and ensure the safety and security of the residents of the Municipality of Cabatuan.

SCHOOL COORDINATION AND UNIFIED 911 AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

On August 5, 2026, personnel of the Cabatuan Municipal Police Station (MPS), under the supervision of PCPT MARY DHEN M. GERBOLINGA, Officer-in-Charge, conducted a school coordination and visitation at Tomas Confessor Memorial Elementary School as part of the Unified 911 Awareness Campaign.

During the activity, Unified 911 information posters were posted in strategic areas within the school to increase awareness among learners, teachers, and school personnel on the proper use of the national emergency hotline. The initiative aims to promote public safety, encourage responsible reporting of emergencies, and strengthen the partnership between the Philippine National Police and the education sector in building a safer and more informed community.
