PhilHealth brings YAKAP services closer to Indigenous Peoples in Western Visayas

PRO VI MMS joined the 4th Western Visayas Indigenous Peoples’ Health Summit held on August 5–6, 2026, at Punta Villa Resort, Iloilo City, bringing PhilHealth services closer to Indigenous Peoples (IPs) in Western Visayas.

PhilHealth conducted a YAKAP Orientation and manned an online service desk, where IP participants received assistance with assignment to YAKAP clinics, updating of membership records, and printing of PhilHealth IDs and MDRs.

One of the highlights of the summit was the ceremonial turnover of YAKAP confirmations of registration, MDRs, and PhilHealth IDs to IP beneficiaries, symbolizing PhilHealth’s commitment to ensuring that IP communities are informed, registered, and connected to essential healthcare services.

Through continued collaboration with stakeholders and community partners, PhilHealth remains committed to making Universal Health Care more accessible, inclusive, and responsive, particularly for vulnerable sectors.

As both agencies open another chapter, we extend our deepest gratitude to Dr. Jose "Brix" Pujalte for his dedicated service. We wish him strength and a full recovery as he now focuses on regaining his health.

The President’s marching orders are clear: promote wellness, prevent disease, strengthen primary care, and champion zero-balance billing for facility-based care—so that no Filipino family is forced to carry a burden it was never meant to bear.

Together, DOH and PhilHealth will build on the gains already made and move toward a future where every Filipino family receives the care they need, when they need it; where no one has to choose between getting well and getting by; and where our people can trust that the health system will be there when it matters most.
