In a strategic move to combat the rising inflation of agricultural inputs, the Tapian Farmers Association (TAFA) of Batad, Iloilo has successfully implemented a self-sustaining feed formulation program that reduced their poultry feed expenses by more than 70% compared with commercial alternatives.

This March, the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program joins the #𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥𝐖𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧’𝐬𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 under the banner “𝐖𝐄 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫 𝐄𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐭𝐲,” reaffirming that advancing equality requires collective action and shared responsibility.

Across our agricultural communities, we see this kind of commitment through the leadership of our women farmers, fishers, and rural leaders who nurture livelihoods and create meaningful change on the ground. Their voices and participation are essential in building resilient food systems and empowered communities.

𝐅𝐀𝐬 𝐩𝐢𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝐅𝐘 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟕 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐒𝐀𝐀𝐃 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐩

The Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program continued its momentum during the second and third days of the FY 2027 Plan and Budget Workshop cm Proposal Making which focused on inclusive planning as representatives from 36 farmers associations (FA) presented their project proposals and action plans geared toward community-led agricultural development.

To ensure the viability and high impact of the proposed projects, a technical panel of experts conducted a thorough critique of each presentation. The panel consisted of DA-Technical Working Group members, banner program representatives, and provincial Local Government Unit (LGU) partners. This collaborative vetting process ensures that the proposals are tailored to the unique environment and market conditions of the FAs’ specific locales.

As the activity nears its conclusion, the refined proposals will be consolidated into the final regional proposal. These plans represent the roadmap for marginalized farming communities to transition from subsistence to sustainable, market-oriented agri-enterprises. # # #

To ensure the strategic alignment and harmonization of grassroots agricultural initiatives, the Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program officially launched its week-long Plan and Budget Workshop cm Proposal Making today, February 24, 2026.

Representatives from 36 farmers associations, guided by their respective Local Government Unit counterparts, took the lead in drafting their respective project proposals and action plans in the workshop session.

By engaging them at the onset of the planning cycle, the program aims to bridge the gap between national agricultural targets and the specific needs of local farming communities. Following this initial drafting phase, participants will undergo a rigorous review process from February 25 to 27 for the refinement of their proposals. # # #

Hindi lamang simpleng kita ang naging bunga ng sipag ng Tamborong Farmers Association mula sa San Lorenzo, Guimaras sa kanilang proyektong pangkabuhayan na handog ng Department of Agriculture - Special Area for Agricultural Development Program (DA-SAAD) Western Visayas.

Umabot din hanggang sa hapag-kainan ng kanilang mga kababayan ang masaganang produksyon at ani mula mismo sa kanilang komyunal na taniman.

Sa pamamagitan ng isang feeding program na ginanap sa Tamborong Elementary School, ibinahagi ng samahan ang kanilang “ani ng tagumpay” kung saan samu’t saring gulay gaya ng sitaw, kalabasa, talong, pechay, okra, at ampalaya ang niluto para magkaroon ng masustansyang pagkain ang mga kabataan sa lugar.

Ito ay isang patunay na kapag ang kabuhayan ay pinatatakbo nang may malasakit, ang bunga nito ay hindi lang nakapupuno ng bulsa, kundi nakakapuno rin ng puso at tiyan ng madla.
