🌊 DENR-PENRO ILOILO CONDUCTS INTERNATIONAL COASTAL CLEANUP EFFORT IN OTON

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 6, through the Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (PENRO) Iloilo, headed by PENR Officer, For. Salvador C. Manglinong, Jr., conducted a coastal cleanup activity in support of the celebration of International Coastal Cleanup (ICC) Day, a worldwide event and a simultaneous nationwide DENR undertaking carried out in collaboration with local government units (LGUs), the academe, private organizations, national government agencies, and other stakeholders.

The activity was held at Brgy. Poblacion East and Brgy. Alegre, Municipality of Oton, Iloilo, with the participation of various stakeholders and volunteers working together to address marine litter and promote the protection and conservation of coastal and marine ecosystems.

The cleanup covered an estimated 2-kilometer stretch of coastline, with a total of 326 participants, composed of 184 females and 142 males.

Through the collective efforts of the participants, a total of 1,010 kilograms of waste, equivalent to 120 sacks was collected from the cleanup area.

The activity highlights the importance of multi-sectoral collaboration and community participation in addressing marine litter and protecting our coastal resources. Through initiatives such as the ICC, DENR and its partners continue to encourage communities and stakeholders to take an active role in keeping our coastal areas clean, healthy, and resilient.

| DENR 6 turns over confiscated lumber to Barotac Nuevo LGU

Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo — The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) in Region 6, through its Community ENR Office (CENRO), has officially donated forty-eight (48) pieces of confiscated lumber to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Barotac Nuevo. The donated lumber has a volume of 751.5 board feet or 1.77 cubic meters.
