The Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation (PCIC), in coordination with the Passi City Agriculture Office, conducted an orientation on High Value Crops specifically for sugarcane, alongside a mass enrollment activity held from April 14โ16 and April 21โ23, 2026. This initiative successfully insured 924 farmers covering a total land area of 1,037.97 hectares, with a Government Premium Subsidy (GPS) amounting to P2,123,440.60 under the RSBSA Program. The events took place across several clustered barangays in Passi City, including Cairojan, Bagacay, Quinagaringan Grande, Pangi, Aglalana, Agtambo, Dalicanan, Jaguimitan, Agtabo, Alimono, Mulapula, and Nueva Union.
The activity involved a dedicated team of insurance underwriters including Marivelle Palomo, Ryan Ballesteros, Rey Homerez, Jose Gamarcha, Alvin Galapin, Raffy Halamane, Ronel Betic, and Ivan Greiy Diono. They were supported by insurance processors Hussel Rey Hurtada, Rosalyn Abad, Aica Belicena, and Rubie Mea Gallaron, as well as insurance adjuster Khent RD Almendralejo and Passi City Agriculture Office PCIC Focal Norlie M. Villa. The insurance provides vital coverage against natural calamities, drought, accidental fire, and pests and diseases in the event of an epidemic.
During the event, Barangay Chairman Jimcel Balanueco of Aglalana, Passi City, expressed his gratitude, stating that the barangay council thanks the PCIC and the Passi City Agriculture Office for bringing these essential services directly to the local farmers. Furthermore, PCIC Focal Norlie Villa emphasized the importance of the program, highly encouraging sugarcane farmers to avail of this insurance for free under the RSBSA program to ensure protection against potential crop losses.
