๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐: The F2C2 National and Regional Project Management Offices, together with the Provincial Office for Agricultural Services, Provincial Economic Development Office, Department of Trade and Industry, Guimaras State University, Bureau of Plant Industry, DA-RFO VI Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division, DA-RFO VI High Value Crops Development Program, and various mango industry stakeholders, came together in Guimaras for a consultative meeting in support of the Philippine Mango Industry Roadmap.
Led by F2C2 Program Director, Dr. Hazel B. Alfon, the consultation opened the floor for farmers, processors, traders, exporters, and stakeholders to share their experiences, concerns, industry gaps, and opportunities. Through Mentimeter and focus group discussion, stakeholders and industry players shared the gaps, challenges and best practices on how the mango value chain can become more resilient and responsive to the needs of the industry.
The team also conducted field visits to the Guimaras Mango Growers and Producers Development Cooperative, Kokomojo Mango Farm, Guimaras Wonderโs Farm, and McNester Foods, gaining firsthand insights into the realities, innovations, and challenges experienced by industry players on the ground. More than gathering data, the visit was about hearing the stories behind the mango industry the hard work of farmers, the determination of processors and enterprises, and the shared hopes of stakeholders for a better and more sustainable future.
Through the continuing efforts of the Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), these voices from Guimaras will help inform practical interventions, encourage investments, and ultimately contribute to better livelihoods for mango farmers. # # #
