Iloilo Provincial Health Office, in coordination with Dumangas RHU, conducted a Dengue and HFMD Advocacy in Brgy. Tamboilan, Dumangas with RSI Maโam Karen Angeli Buenafe Bondad.
The activity was warmly attended by the Barangay Officials, Barangay Health Workers (BHWs), 4Ps beneficiaries, Senior Citizens, and the wider community of the barangay, reflecting a strong collective commitment to health and safety.
During the session, the team highlighted the urgent need to intensify the 4S strategy against dengue:
1๏ธโฃ Search and Destroy mosquito breeding sites in homes and surroundings
2๏ธโฃ Seek Early Consultation at the first sign of fever or symptoms
3๏ธโฃ Self-Protection Measures such as using mosquito repellents and wearing protective clothing
4๏ธโฃ Say Yes to Fogging during outbreaks
Alongside engue prevention, the advocacy also focused on strengthening proper hygiene, especially as HFMD continues to affect vulnerable groups. Participants were guided on the correct steps of handwashing, emphasizing its importance as a simple yet powerful way to break the chain of infection.
This joint effort aims to empower the community with knowledge, equip families with preventive skills, and inspire collective action toward a cleaner, healthier, and disease-free barangay.
