MONDAY CONVOCATION | AUGUST

This morning’s Monday Convocation marked our final week as hosts for the month of August. Throughout the month, we had the opportunity to gather with our fellow LGU employees, begin each week with reflection, and remind ourselves of the value of working together in service to our community.

As part of today’s activity, we also took a moment to recognize our August birthday celebrants and share a simple token of appreciation with them. 🎂🎁 May this small gesture remind them that their presence and contribution to the LGU community are valued and appreciated.

More than a weekly gathering, the Monday Convocation gives us a meaningful pause before the workweek begins: a time to reflect, appreciate one another, and renew our commitment to public service.

As another week begins, may we continue to work with purpose, serve with sincerity, and support one another along the way.

Here’s to a productive and meaningful week ahead!

MAO UPDATES| Canadian Team Visits MAO, Coffee Nursery

The LGU Impasugong – Municipal Agriculture Office welcomed representatives of a Canadian Government-supported climate resilience initiative during their visit to the municipality, including an assessment of the local coffee nursery.

Project name: KLIMA- Disaster Resilience for Women Agro-Entrepreneurs in the Philippines, is a six-year project supported by the Government of Canada through Global Affairs Canada. It aims to strengthen the capacity of agricultural communities to withstand the growing impacts of climate change and disasters while creating more resilient and inclusive agricultural livelihoods.

Bukidnon and Misamis Oriental are part of the project’s focus areas, with Impasugong among the municipalities to be engaged. The project will focus on strengthening the coffee and cacao sectors while helping farmers better adapt to the effects of climate change.

The initiative also promotes the meaningful participation and leadership of women, youth, Indigenous Peoples, and other vulnerable sectors, recognizing that climate resilience is strongest when communities themselves are part of shaping the solutions.

For the MAO, the visit is an important opportunity to share local agricultural realities, existing initiatives, and farmers’ needs, while exploring stronger partnerships toward climate-resilient, inclusive, and sustainable agriculture in Impasugong.

MAO UPDATE | 1st Session of FFS on Corn and Upland Rice Production in Brgy. Bontongon

Farmers in Barangay Bontongon, Impasugong, Bukidnon came together for the 1st Session of the Farmer Field School (FFS) on Corn and Upland Rice Production, marking the beginning of a learning journey centered on practical, participatory, and field-based learning.

An engaging Focus Group Discussion (FGD) opened the session, allowing participants to share their experiences, insights, and expectations. This was followed by a re-orientation on the Farmer Field School, covering its overview, objectives, weekly activities, possible learning topics, and proposed experimental studies.

More than introducing the activities ahead, the session encouraged farmers to become active participants in the learning process. Through discussion, observation, experimentation, and sharing of actual farming experiences, the FFS aims to make every session relevant to the realities faced in the field.

Facilitating the session were Ms. Dayana L. Padilla, Ms. Candelaria T. Donasco, and Monica Bariñan, together with Local Farmer Technician Ms. Julie Ebio, whose practical farming experience adds valuable perspective to the discussions.

With the first session underway, farmers and facilitators now look forward to a series of learning activities where knowledge is shared, ideas are tested, and better farming practices are developed together.

MAO UPDATES | ANIMAL HEALTH ACTIVITY Barangay Cawayan

Last Tuesday, the LGU Impasugong – Municipal Agriculture Office (MAO), in partnership with the Provincial Veterinary Office (PVO), successfully conducted an Animal Health Activity in Barangay Cawayan, Impasugong, Bukidnon.

Representing the MAO were Dr. Betchang Okinlay, Mary Love Saranillo, Charlie Adarne, and Kenneth Fluke Velez, who joined the Provincial Veterinary Office team in providing animal health services and technical assistance to local animal raisers.

The activity was also made possible through the support and participation of other MAO Agricultural Technicians and support staff, working together in the field to ensure the smooth conduct of the activity. Specially assisting the team in Barangay Cawayan was Monica Bariñan, the Agricultural Technician assigned to the barangay, who helped facilitate coordination with the local community and animal raisers.

Through the combined efforts of the local and provincial veterinary teams and our agricultural field personnel, farmers were provided with essential animal health services and professional guidance on proper livestock care and management.

The MAO continues to work with its partners in bringing responsive and accessible agricultural and veterinary services closer to the people of Impasugong.

WILDLIFE RESCUE | A Helping Hand for an Injured Eagle

At around 1:30 PM today, personnel from the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MEENRO) visited the Municipal Agriculture Office after rescuing an eagle found in Barangay Kibenton, Impasugong, Bukidnon.

The bird was discovered by a farmer who noticed that it appeared to be injured and unable to fly. Concerned for its condition, the farmer contacted the MEENRO, who immediately responded and brought the bird to safety.

Based on the initial information shared by the MEENRO personnel, the eagle may have come from the Mt. Kitanglad area. Rather than allowing the bird to remain in captivity or be kept as a pet, the proper course was to turn it over to the appropriate authorities for assessment and care, especially since wildlife such as eagles are protected and should be handled only by authorized personnel.

The rescued bird was then brought to the Municipal Agriculture Office to seek advice from our veterinary personnel, Dr. Betchang Okinlay, regarding its condition. After an initial assessment, she recommended bringing the bird to the Provincial Veterinary Office for a more thorough examination and proper veterinary care, including diagnostic procedures such as an X-ray, if necessary, to determine the extent and possible cause of its inability to fly.

May this eagle receive the proper treatment it needs and, hopefully, return to the skies where it belongs.

MAO UPDATES | Onsite Technology Needs Assessment for AGMIHICU Coffee Nursery

The Agtulawon, Mintapod, Higaonon Cumadon (AGMIHICU) community in Kiudto, Hagpa, Impasugong, took another step toward strengthening its coffee-based livelihood through an Onsite Technology Needs Assessment conducted today, August 12,2026.

The visit brought together the LGU-Impasugong Municipal Agriculture Office, M. Montesclaros Enterprise Inc., headed by Atty. Ari Montesclaros, Vice Chairman of the Bukidnon Coffee Industry Council, the DOST Bukidnon team headed by Provincial Director Ritchie Guno, Coffee PMT headed by Ma’am Bambi Sistoso, PCDO, and staff from the PPDO and PAGRO.

During the onsite assessment, the participating agencies and partners examined the existing conditions and development needs of the AGMIHICU Community Arabica Coffee Nursery, which is being established through the community’s spirit of bayanihan. Discussions focused on identifying appropriate technologies, capacity-building needs, and potential interventions that could further improve coffee production, processing, and value addition.

Through this collaborative engagement, the partners explored opportunities to provide appropriate technical and technological support that may help strengthen the community’s coffee enterprise and prepare it for the production of quality coffee cherries and, eventually, high-quality Green Coffee Beans (GCB).

Beyond the assessment itself, the activity highlighted the importance of collaboration among institutions, technical partners, and the community in identifying practical solutions and opportunities for a more sustainable and innovation-driven coffee livelihood.

Adding a lighter note to the productive field activity, the team made a short side trip to Dalupaan View Deck, providing a scenic stop and a refreshing moment after a day of discussions and onsite assessment.

Ang Deputized Fishery Wardens (DFWs) sa Impasugong, Bukidnon malampusong nagpahigayon og Tree Planting ug Clean-Up Drive sa Atugan, Lover’s Lane, Impasugong, Bukidnon, isip kabahin sa ilang padayong paningkamot alang sa pagpanalipod sa kinaiyahan, konserbasyon, ug malungtarong pagdumala sa mga natural nga kahinguhaan.

Ang maong kalihokan nagtigom sa mga DFWs alang sa usa ka makahuluganon nga paningkamot sa komunidad pinaagi sa pagpananom og mga kahoy, pagpanglimpyo ug pagkolekta sa mga basura, husto nga paglabay niini, ug pagmintinar sa kalimpyo sa palibot. Gipakita niini ang importante nga papel sa mga Fishery Wardens dili lamang sa pagpanalipod sa mga pangisdaan ug mga kahinguhaan sa katubigan sa lungsod, kondili usab sa pagpalambo sa pag-atiman ug pagpanalipod sa kinaiyahan. Nagpakita usab kini sa dakong dedikasyon sa mga DFWs sa pagmugna og mas limpyo, mas lunhaw, ug mas himsog nga palibot alang sa komunidad.

Kini nga kalihokan nagpakita sa lig-on nga panag-alayon ug panaghiusa sa Local Government Unit (LGU) sa Impasugong, Municipal Agriculture Office, ug Deputized Fishery Wardens sa pagsuporta sa mga programa nga nagtumong sa pagpanalipod, pagpreserba, ug pag-atiman sa natural nga mga kahinguhaan sa lungsod.

MAO UPDATES | Bringing Agricultural Services Closer to Our Communities

The LGU Impasugong- Municipal Agriculture Office brought agricultural inputs, livelihood support, and veterinary services closer to farmers and rural communities today, August 11, 2026, through a series of activities in Barangays Hagpa and Kalabugao.

In Barangay Hagpa, the MAO distributed rice seeds to 321 RSBSA-registered rice farmers, providing them with essential planting materials for the upcoming rice production season.

The MAO also joined the opening of the KADULUHAMN Women’s Organization Rice Production Project, supported through the Sustainable Livelihood Program (SLP) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) with ₱400,000 in project assistance. The initiative is intended to strengthen the organization’s livelihood activities through rice production.

Meanwhile, through the LGU IMPASUGONG Hatod Serbisyo at Sitio Kiudto, the MAO extended agricultural and veterinary assistance to the community. Vegetable seeds were provided to 146 beneficiaries and corn seeds to 94 beneficiaries, while veterinary services included anti-rabies vaccination for dogs, vitamin supplementation and deworming for cattle, carabaos, and horses.

The day’s activities continued in Barangay Kalabugao, where rice seeds were distributed to another 307 RSBSA-registered rice farmers, further supporting local rice production and food security.

Our sincere appreciation to Hon. Mayor Mai Okinlay for her genuine dedication to serving the people of Impasugong. Her leadership continues to promote a culture of inclusive public service, where support and opportunities are extended to communities and sectors without discrimination, reaching those who need them wherever they are.
