𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗗𝗘𝗖 𝗘𝘅𝗽𝗹𝗼𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗔𝗡𝗥 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗶𝘁𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗹 𝗢𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀

The Southern Tagalog Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research, Development and Extension Consortium (STAARRDEC) conducted a series of virtual orientation sessions in September to introduce its programs and services and explore potential areas of collaboration with institutions engaged in agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources (AANR) research and development.

The first session was held on September 14, 2026, with the Philippine Carabao Center–University of the Philippines Los Baños (PCC-UPLB), led by STAARRDEC Consortium Director Dr. Almira G. Magcawas. The session provided an overview of STAARRDEC’s mandate, programs, services, and areas of engagement, while highlighting possible linkages in support of AANR research, development, and extension.

Dr. Magcawas also led a virtual orientation for the National Fisheries Research and Development Institute (NFRDI) on September 23, 2026. The discussion introduced NFRDI to STAARRDEC’s initiatives and provided an opportunity to identify potential areas of collaboration relevant to fisheries and other aquatic research and development concerns.

The third session was conducted on September 29, 2026, for the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), facilitated by Dr. Marlon R. Pereña, STAARRDEC Regional ICT Cluster Coordinator. The session featured STAARRDEC’s programs and initiatives and opened discussions on possible areas of engagement with PhilRice, particularly those relevant to rice research and the broader AANR sector.

Through these sessions, STAARRDEC engaged three research institutions with distinct areas of expertise—carabao and livestock research, fisheries and aquatic resources, and rice research. The discussions provided a venue to introduce the Consortium’s role and identify potential areas where the institutions may work together on research, development, extension, and related initiatives benefiting the Southern Tagalog region.

The call for entries for the 𝟰𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗥𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 (𝗥𝗥𝗜𝗪) is still ongoing!

STAARRDEC invites its Consortium Member Institutions (CMIs) to participate in this year’s regional celebration of research, innovation, technology development, and knowledge sharing, to be held on November 23–25, 2026 at Batangas State University.

𝙎𝙏𝘼𝘼𝙍𝙍𝘿𝙀𝘾 𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙞𝙥𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙎𝙇𝙎𝙐’𝙨 𝙎𝙘𝙞𝙚𝙣𝙘𝙚, 𝙏𝙚𝙘𝙝𝙣𝙤𝙡𝙤𝙜𝙮, 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙄𝙣𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣 𝙒𝙚𝙚𝙠 2026

The Southern Tagalog Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research, Development and Extension Consortium (STAARRDEC) participated in the Science, Technology, and Innovation Week (STW) 2026 held at Southern Luzon State University (SLSU) on September 15–16, 2026.

Participated through STAARRMart featured selected research-based AANR-related products and technologies developed by Consortium Member Institutions (CMIs). The exhibit provided an opportunity to showcase research outputs and innovations that contribute to addressing the needs of the agriculture, aquatic, and natural resources (AANR) sector.

Through STAARRMART, STAARRDEC showcased selected research-based products and technologies related to AANR developed by its CMIs. The exhibit provided a platform for presenting research outputs and innovations that respond to emerging needs and challenges in the AANR sector.

STAARRDEC also contributed to the event through the participation of its coordinators as evaluators in various competitions. Dr. Lloyd O. Balinado, Deputy Consortium Director, and Dr. Racquel G. Agustin, Regional Science Communication Cluster Coordinator, served as evaluators for the 5th Research Congress. Representatives from other CMIs, including Batangas State University (BatStateU), Cavite State University (CvSU), Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU), and the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), likewise served as evaluators in other competitions during the event.

The participation of STAARRDEC and its CMIs demonstrated the value of resource sharing and collaboration in advancing research, technology, and innovation. It also provided an avenue for strengthening linkages among member institutions and promoting research-based solutions that contribute to the development of the AANR sector.

STAARRDEC extends its appreciation to SLSU for the invitation and for providing an avenue to showcase and share research-based technologies, products, and innovations developed by its Consortium Member Institutions.
