Kauban sa DA-PRDP Regional Project Coordination Office IX (RPCO-9) Project Validation Team ang Municipal Technical Working Group (MTWG) sa pagbisita, pag-validate, ug pag-map sa mga water sources ug irrigation service areas para masiguro ang long-term sustainability sa proyekto.

📋 Duha ka importante nga briefing meetings ang gihimo:
✅ Before actual site survey — para ma-align ang tanang datos ug targets
✅ After site survey — kauban si Municipal Mayor ug MTWG aron i-finalize ang subproject details, hisgotan ang next steps, ug i-review ang compliance sa tanang proposal documents.

Dugang pa, nihatag ang RPCO-9 team ug technical assistance sa pag-prepare sa mga requirements—ug gi-emphasize nga non-negotiable na ang pag-establish sa Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering Office sa munisipyo isip usa sa mga requirements sa DA-PRDP Scale-Up.

Padayon ang pag-uswag sa Sergio Osmeña—ug kini nga proyekto dili lang para sa mga residente sa munisipyo, kundili para sa kinabuhi, panginabuhian, ug kalamboan sa matag pamilyang mag-uuma!

The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office IX successfully concluded the Capacity Building on Integrating the Expanded Vulnerability and Suitability Assessment (eVSA) into Agriculture and Fisheries Plans and Investment Programming on July 7–9, 2026 at the Conference Hall, DA RFO IX, Pagadian City.

The three-day activity served as a major mainstreaming initiative to strengthen the generation and utilization of eVSA in evidence-based planning and investment programming across the Department's banner programs and operating units. It was spearheaded by the Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Division (PMED) in collaboration with the Field Operations Division (FOD).

The activity was participated in by representatives from the Field Operations Division, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Division, Corn Program, Rice Program, Livestock Program, Organic Agriculture Program, High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP), Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA), National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP), Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD), and the Halal Food Industry Development Program (HFIDP).

Throughout the training, participants enhanced their competencies in generating and interpreting eVSA maps using both the online and offline eVSA platforms. They also gained practical experience in producing and analyzing geospatial maps using Quantum Geographic Information System (QGIS), enabling them to better integrate climate, vulnerability, and suitability information into agriculture and fisheries planning and investment programming.

The sessions were facilitated by resource persons from the Geomapping and Governance Unit (GGU), the Planning at the National and Local Levels (I-PLAN) Component, and the Institutionalization and Development Unit (IDU). The facilitators shared their technical expertise on eVSA generation, geospatial analysis using QGIS, and the practical application of eVSA in identifying priority areas and guiding evidence-based investment decisions.

The capacity-building initiative reinforces DA RFO IX's commitment to institutionalizing the use of the Expanded Vulnerability and Suitability Assessment (eVSA) as a key decision-support tool and to promoting data-driven, climate-responsive, and evidence-based planning for resilient and sustainable agriculture and fisheries development across the region.

Gitambongan kini sa mga representante gikan sa Field Operations Division (FOD), Regional Agricultural Engineering Division (RAED), Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), Rice Program, Corn Program, High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP), Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD), Integrated Laboratory Division (ILD), National Urban and Peri-Urban Agriculture Program (NUPAP), Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP), Adaptation and Mitigation Initiative in Agriculture (AMIA), Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Extension System (PAFES), Research Division, Regulatory Division, ug Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation Division (PMED), uban sa Provincial Core Planning Team ug uban pang partner agencies.

Niadtong Hunyo 24–25, 2026, ang Philippine Rural Development Project Regional Project Coordination Office IX (PRDP RPCO-IX) mipadayon sa paghatag ug technical assistance pinaagi sa pakighimamat sa Municipal Technical Working Groups (MTWGs) sa Sirawai ug Sergio Osmeña, Zamboanga del Norte, duha ka lungsod nga aktibong nag-andam sa ilang irrigation subproject proposals alang sa PRDP Scale-Up funding.

Atol sa maong engagement, gipresentar sa PRDP RPCO-IX ang eligibility criteria ug ang mga non-negotiable standards nga kinahanglan matuman aron mahimong kwalipikado ang matag proposal. Gituki usab ang mga kinahanglanong dokumento, ang hustong proseso sa pag-aplay, ug ang mga aspeto sa technical feasibility, economic viability, social acceptability, ug environmental sustainability.

Apan dili lang kini usa ka orientation. Aktibong miapil ang mga MTWGs pinaagi sa pagpangutana, pagpresentar sa ilang kasamtangang datos ug mga dokumento, samtang ang PRDP RPCO-IX team naghatag og hands-on technical assistance—girepaso ang mga proposal, gisiguro ang ilang pag-align sa local, regional, ug national development plans, ug gihatagan og giya sa pagkompleto sa tanang supporting requirements.

Sa PRDP Scale-Up, dili lang kita nag-andam og mga proposal, nag-andam kita og mga proyekto nga magdala og kasaligan nga suplay sa tubig, mas lig-on nga agrikultura, ug mas maayong kaugmaon alang sa atong mga mag-uuma.

Sa PRDP RPCO-IX, ang matag proposal dili lang usa ka dokumento, kini usa ka panaad ug paglaum sa mas lig-on nga agrikultura, mas taas nga ani, ug usa ka kaugmaon nga abunda sa pagkaon ug kauswagan alang sa matag komunidad.

On June 17–18, 2026, the Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office IX, through the Philippine Rural Development Project (PRDP) I-PLAN Component, successfully convened the Technical Presentation and Review of the Commodity Investment Plans (CIPs) and the Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Investment Portfolio (RAFIP) in Zamboanga City.The activity aims to integrate priority agri-fishery investments into the FY 2028 plans and budgets.

The event brought together Provincial Local Government Units from Zamboanga del Sur, Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay, and Sulu Province, as well as the City Governments of Zamboanga City and Isabela City, to present their priority commodity interventions and investment requirements.

Also joining the activity were key partner National Government Agencies, including the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS), National Irrigation Administration (NIA), National Food Authority (NFA), and Philippine Rubber Research Institute (PRRI), alongside DA Banner Programs and Operating Units such as the Rice Program, Corn Program, High Value Crops Development Program (HVCDP), Livestock Program, Organic Agriculture Program (OAP), Agribusiness and Marketing Assistance Division (AMAD), Integrated Laboratory Division (ILD), Regional Agricultural Engineering Division (RAED), Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBSA), Special Area for Agricultural Development (SAAD) Program, and the Kabuhayan at Kaunlaran ng Kababayang Katutubo (4K) Program.

More than just a review and planning exercise, the activity served as a convergence platform where participating agencies, banner programs, and operating units identified priority interventions and expressed their commitments to support the needs and opportunities outlined in the CIPs and RAFIP through their respective FY 2028 plans, budgets, programs, and services.

Through strengthened collaboration and shared commitment, strategic investments can be translated into concrete programs, projects, and services that will create lasting benefits for farmers, fisherfolk, and agri-fishery communities across the region.

From June 2–4, 2026, the DA-PRDP I-PLAN Component, together with the Geomapping and Governance Unit, convened the Core Planning Teams of Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga City, and Isabela City in Zamboanga City to generate and validate the latest Expanded Vulnerability and Suitability Assessment (eVSA) results for rice and corn commodities.

Using updated datasets and scientific analysis, the activity strengthened the development of eVSA Maps that pinpoint high-potential production areas and locations requiring priority interventions. These valuable insights will guide evidence-based planning and help ensure that agricultural programs and investments respond directly to the realities and needs of our farmers and local communities. The validated eVSA results will serve as a critical decision-support tool for identifying priority investment areas under the PRDP Scale-Up, while helping local governments craft strategies that promote agricultural productivity, climate resilience, food security, and sustainable rural development.
