TALUSAN, Zamboanga Sibugay – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Office, in coordination with the DILG Regional Office IX – Project Development and Management Unit (PDMU), conducted a Site Validation and Evaluation of the proposed FY 2026 Local Government Support Fund – Growth Equity Fund (LGSF-GEF) projects in the Municipality of Talusan on July 22–23, 2026.

The validation team, together with the Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) and the Municipal Engineering Office, inspected the proposed project sites in Barangays Tuburan, Mahayahay, and Florida to assess site readiness and identify technical concerns prior to implementation.

The activity highlights DILG's commitment to providing technical assistance and ensuring that government-funded infrastructure projects are implemented efficiently, transparently, and in accordance with established standards for the benefit of local communities.

TITAY, Zamboanga Sibugay – Representing the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Office, Engineer II Mae L. Manigsaca, in coordination with Municipal Local Government Operations Officer (MLGOO) Angelita C. Narciso of Titay, monitored and documented the Rice Subsidy Distribution under the Fiscal Year (FY) 2026 Financial Assistance to Local Government Units – Agricultural and Fisheries Infrastructure and Implementing Facilities (FALGU-AIIF) Program on July 30, 2026.

The monitoring team visited Barangays Imelda, Gomotoc, and New Canaan to validate the number of beneficiaries served and ensure that the distribution was properly documented in accordance with program guidelines. A total of 252 beneficiaries received rice subsidies during the activity.

Through this activity, DILG Zamboanga Sibugay reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening local governance by providing technical assistance, monitoring the implementation of nationally funded programs, and ensuring that government services are delivered to intended beneficiaries in a transparent, accountable, and efficient manner.

Strengthening child protection remains a top priority in Zamboanga Sibugay as the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children (PCPC) and the Provincial Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Their Children (PCAT-VAWC) convened a Special Meeting on July 30, 2026, at the Provincial Governor's Office, Capitol Site, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. The gathering brought together provincial government officials, council members, and partner agencies to review key developments and reinforce collaborative efforts in promoting the welfare of children, women, and other vulnerable sectors.

A highlight of the meeting was the presentation by the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Office on the status of the 2026 Local Council for the Protection of Children (LCPC) Functionality Assessment. The DILG provided updates on the assessment results of the municipalities across the province and announced that several local government units have successfully met the required standards and have been endorsed for the National Validation, marking a significant milestone in the province's continuing pursuit of child-friendly and responsive local governance.

The council also discussed priority concerns and initiatives aimed at strengthening the implementation of child protection, anti-trafficking, and violence against women and children programs. Through sustained collaboration among government agencies and stakeholders, the meeting reaffirmed the province's commitment to building safer communities where the rights and well-being of every child, woman, and vulnerable individual are protected and upheld.

IPIL, Zamboanga Sibugay – The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Office successfully conducted its Sports Day Activity through a Pickleball Friendly Game on July 23, 2026, at Drop Shot Court, Pangi, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay. The activity gathered provincial office personnel in a friendly sporting event aimed at promoting physical fitness, employee wellness, and camaraderie while providing an avenue for recreation beyond the workplace.

The Sports Day featured friendly Pickleball matches where participants demonstrated teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship in an atmosphere of healthy competition and mutual support. More than just a recreational event, the activity served as a team-building initiative that strengthened collaboration among personnel, encouraged work-life balance, and reinforced the importance of maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle in support of overall employee well-being.

The successful conduct of the Sports Day reflects DILG Zamboanga Sibugay's commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive workplace culture that values unity, wellness, and employee engagement. Through initiatives such as this, the Provincial Office continues to invest in the holistic development of its personnel, recognizing that a healthy, motivated, and cohesive workforce is essential in delivering responsive, efficient, and quality public service to the communities it serves.

On July 24, 2026, the DILG Regional Office IX conducted the Physical Count of Inventories, Semi-Expendable Property, and Property, Plant and Equipment (PPE) at the DILG Zamboanga Sibugay Provincial Office. The activity aimed to ensure compliance with COA regulations and government property management policies through the verification of accountable government assets and inventory records.

The inventory team, in coordination with the Provincial Office's Property Custodian ADAS II Wenifredo M. Tablate II, verified the existence, condition, and accountability of government properties and identified any discrepancies for appropriate documentation and corrective action. The activity reinforced accurate property recording, strengthened internal controls, and promoted transparency, accountability, and effective management of government assets.

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), in coordination with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC), served as official observers during the Provincial Agricultural and Fisheries Council (PAFC) Regular Executive Committee (ExeCom) Meeting, which included the Election of Officers, and the Farmers and Fisherfolk Agricultural and Fisheries Council (FAFC) Sectoral Committee Meeting on Rice and Other Food Staples. The activity was held on July 22, 2026, at the LDOXA Building, Taway, Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay.

The presence of the DILG and COMELEC ensured that the election of PAFC officers was conducted in accordance with established rules and procedures. As observers, they helped uphold transparency, fairness, and accountability throughout the election process, thereby strengthening the credibility and integrity of the council's leadership selection.

Representing Regional Director Pablio L. Benitez, Jr., PhD, CESO V, Provincial Director Oliver B. Ombos participated in the Initial Planning Coordination Meeting for Exercise "KALASAG ZAMPEN" spearheaded by the 102nd Infantry (IGSOON) Brigade on 20 July 2026.

The meeting brought together representatives from the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Office of Civil Defense (OCD), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Philippine Information Agency (PIA), and other partner agencies to discuss the operational concept of the Inter-Agency Territorial Defense Operations (IA-TDO) under the AFP's Comprehensive Archipelagic Defense Operations (CADO).

Key discussions focused on strengthening inter-agency coordination, operational readiness, and the Whole-of-Government and Whole-of-Nation approach to territorial defense. Participating agencies also presented their available personnel, equipment, operational capabilities, and commitments in preparation for the WESMINCOM-Wide Exercise "KALASAG ZAMPEN," scheduled on 20 August 2026.

During the meeting, DILG highlighted its critical role in coordinating with Local Government Units (LGUs), ensuring continuity of governance, supporting Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (LDRRMOs), and facilitating whole-of-government collaboration in support of territorial defense and crisis preparedness.

The Department reaffirms its commitment to working closely with partner agencies to strengthen local governance, enhance emergency preparedness, and build resilient communities in support of national security objectives.
