โFor young learners, a new notebook, a fresh set of pencils, or a school bag can mean more than just school suppliesโit can be a small reminder that someone believes in their dreams. This spirit of sharing and caring came to life through Tabang IriguenYouth, as the City Government of Iriga brought much-needed educational assistance to young learners of Don Lazaro Madara Memorial School in San Nicolas and La Anunciacion Elementary School in La Anunciacion, Iriga City.
โ
โLed by City Mayor Hon. Wilfredo Rex C. Oliva and City Vice Mayor Hon. Edsel S. Dimaiwat, through the Iriga City Youth Development Office (ICYDO) headed by Mrs. Quenie Marie April Gonzales and the SK Pederasyon led by Hon. Dessa Mare Lontayao, the initiative distributed school supplies to a total of 292 learners from Kinder to Grade 6, including Indigenous Peoples (IP) learners. The assistance was made possible through the proceeds of โFootprints of Hope: Run. Give. Inspire.โ, a fun run for a cause held as part of Iriga Cityโs Linggo ng Kabataan 2026 celebration last August.
โ
โMore than a distribution activity, Tabang IriguenYouth turned the energy of young people and the generosity of the community into something tangible for children pursuing their education. In his message to the two schools, Vice Mayor Dimaiwat emphasized the importance of education in shaping every childโs future, while underscoring the City Governmentโs commitment to providing young people with opportunities, support, and meaningful interventions that promote their development and well-being. Through this collective act of giving, the footprints left by the fun run continue to move forwardโthis time, carried by the dreams of Irigaโs young learners.
