The City Government of Iriga under 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐌𝐚𝐲𝐨𝐫 𝐖𝐢𝐥𝐟𝐫𝐞𝐝𝐨 𝐑𝐞𝐱 𝐂. 𝐎𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐚, with the Iriga Culture, Heritage, Arts, and Tourism Office led by City Tourism Officer 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐫. 𝐍𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐕𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚 𝐌. 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐨, joins the nation in the observance of the Araw ng Kagitingan (Day of Valor) this April 9, 2026.

Araw ng Kagitingan, or Day of Valor, also known as Bataan Day and Corregidor Day, reminds us of the infamous Bataan Death March and the Fall of Bataan at the hands of Japanese soldiers on April 9, 1942. As we remember that fateful day in our history, we give honor, respect, and pride to the legacy of valor and sacrifice of the fallen soldiers and of our veterans as defenders of the peace, freedom, independence, and sovereignty of our country.

Let this year's theme, “𝑮𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒏𝒈 𝑩𝒂𝒚𝒂𝒏𝒊, 𝑷𝒂𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒂 𝒔𝒂 𝑺𝒂𝒍𝒊𝒏𝒍𝒂𝒉𝒊,” resonate within us, reminding us of the shared responsibility in protecting our hard-fought freedom and of the gifts of bravery and resilience running through our blood, to be warriors of that peace, freedom, independence, and sovereignty we now enjoy.

*Pursuant to Proclamation No. 1006, s. 2025, April 9,2026 is declared a regular Holiday in observance of Day of Valor or Araw ng Kagitingan.

Committed to creating more reasons to love Arriba Iriga Tourism and boost the local tourism industry, Iriga City, represented by City Tourism Officer 𝐄𝐧𝐠𝐫. 𝐍𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐕𝐚𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚 𝐌. 𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐠𝐨 attended the first 𝐑𝐞𝐠𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐓𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦 𝐎𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐠𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐆𝐲𝐦𝐧𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐮𝐦 𝐨𝐧 𝐌𝐚𝐫𝐜𝐡 5–6, 2026.

Initiated by the Department of Tourism Regional Office V and hosted by Sorsogon Province, the summit gathered tourism officers from all over the region and featured plenary sessions and interactive discussions focused on the event's theme, "𝗘𝗺𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗺 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗟𝗮𝘄𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀," to capacitate local tourism officers in raising the standards of delivering tourism services and boosting the tourism industry.

The summit also highlighted tourism mandates, relevant Laws and policies, tourism planning and management, as well as effective approaches in promoting local tourism assets. The activity, likewise, fostered camaraderie among Tourism officers and strengthened collaborations in working together for shared goals of making an even more exciting Bicol.

Notably, 𝑬𝒏𝒈𝒓. Highlights: I-CHAT Office's 2026 Team Getaway!

Sun, sea, smiles and more smiles completed our team building activity last February 16-17,2026, at Casa Miyapi, Siruma, Camarines Sur.

Engaging activities and heartfelt open forum strengthened connections as Iriga Culture Heritage Arts and Tourism Office resolve to hit tourism targets and make office operations better than before.

Led by City Tourism Officer Engr. Nona Vanessa M. Santiago, Team I-CHAT veered away from tedious discussions and boring assessments, and instead opted for a more interactive and light approach in building stronger team work as they strive to deliver the Filipino brand of service excellence in creating more reasons to love Arriba Iriga Tourism, and generating a memorable travel experience for everyone, in line with the city's vision of Iriga as the sports, CULTURE and ARTS capital of Bicol region, under the visionary leadership of City Mayor Wilfredo Rex C. Oliva.
