The Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity (MRSIA) monitoring and supervision was conducted under the leadership of the Provincial Health Officer II, Dr. Sharifa Ann C. Abbas, together with the Chief of Technical Division, Dr. Saifunnasri S. Hajan; Provincial Immunization Coordinator, Mr. Wymar R. Ladjiman; and Health Education and Promotion Officer, Ms. Marida E. Sayyadi, along with the provincial health staff. The activity was further supported by the Ministry of HealthโBARMM Director General, Dr. Abduhalik M. Kasim, and the Director II for Technical Services, Dr. Ahmad-Fawadz A. Israel, with representatives from the DOH Central Office, namely Ms. Jasmin Mae Mendoza, Ms. Wardah Bilao, Ms. Arlene Tibig, and Ms. Ma. Graziella C. Aytona.
The monitoring team visited the City Health Office of Lamitan and the Municipality of Maluso to assess the implementation of the MRSIA, focusing on service delivery, cold chain management, documentation, and community engagement strategies. During the visit, the team engaged with local health workers to provide technical guidance, address operational challenges, and reinforce adherence to national immunization standards and protocols.
The activity highlighted the strong collaboration between national, regional, and local health authorities in ensuring the effective rollout of the MRSIA. The visit also emphasized the shared commitment to protecting children from measles and rubella through quality immunization services and strengthened health system support at the local level.
Courtesy meetings were also held with key local government officials to strengthen support for the Measles-Rubella Supplemental Immunization Activity. The team met with the Provincial Governor of Basilan, Hon. Mujiv S. Hataman, and conducted coordination meetings with the Lamitan City LGU led by Hon. Mayor Oric Furigay, as well as the Municipality of Maluso headed by Hon. Mayor Kaizer Hataman and Hon. Vice Mayor Ahmad Rugasan Daud.
