SKK OBEDENCIA JOINS IN THE LAST LEG OF AGRIDAM 2026 | SK Member of Barangay Panunsulan, Elvic John Obedencia participated in the 24-Hour Training Module Course under the AGRIDAM (Agent for Risk and Damage Management) held on August 25–27, 2026 in Ipil, Zamboanga Sibugay, which was spearheaded by the National Youth Commission (NYC) in collaboration with the Office of Civil Defense (OCD), with the objective of strengthening the capacity of young people to actively contribute to disaster risk reduction and management.
The three-day training covered key areas including the Philippine Disaster Context, Climate Change Adaptation, Community-Based Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (CBDRRM), its legal foundations, community risk assessment, participatory DRRM planning, with its thematic pillars; disaster prevention and mitigation, preparedness, disaster response, rehabilitation and recovery. These modules provided participants with foundational knowledge and practical perspectives on identifying community risks, strengthening preparedness, and promoting participatory approaches to disaster resilience.
As a youth representative of Barangay Panunsulan, the participation in national youth stage underscores the commitment of the Sangguniang Kabataan to developing informed, capable, and disaster-resilient young leaders. The knowledge and competencies acquired through the AGRIDAM training will serve as valuable inputs in advancing youth-led disaster preparedness, risk reduction, and community resilience initiatives within the barangay.
