Basilan State College Honored during the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Session for its Victory in the Battle of the Nightingales 2025

Today, August 27, 2025, the participants of the recently concluded Battle of the Nightingales were invited by Board Member of District 1, Hon. Nasser A. Salain, to attend the said session.

The participants of the said competition were formally recognized for their outstanding achievement, securing Second Place among 18 prestigious universities and colleges across the region. Their success brought pride and honor not only to Basilan State College but also to the entire province.

During the ceremony, the students were awarded incentives through the initiative of the provincial government, reflecting the leadership’s unwavering support for education and excellence. Hon. Nasser A. Salain, including Vice Governor Hon. Jim Salliman, along with other officials of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, commended the participants for their dedication, discipline, and passion, which served as an inspiration to the youth of Basilan.

With that, the Basilan State College–Nursing Department extends its heartfelt gratitude to Hon. Nasser A. Salain for his unwavering support in nurturing talents and igniting potential. His dedication has truly inspired our students to strive for excellence and persevere in their chosen path.

This recognition is not merely a celebration of victory but also a testament to Basilan State College’s lifelong commitment to service and academic excellence. ‎Basilan State College Gears Up for the Battle of the Nightingale 2025

‎Basilan State College - Nursing Department is ready to take on the challenge as it sends its outstanding nursing students to compete in the West Metro Medical Center’s “Battle of the Nightingale 2025”—a prestigious and intellectually challenging quiz bowl that gathers the brightest nursing students from various esteemed institutions across Mindanao to showcase their knowledge, critical thinking, and clinical expertise. This year’s much-anticipated event will take place on August 20, 2025, at KCC Mall de Zamboanga.

‎Representing Basilan State College in this year’s competition are Thessa Mae G. Lato, Nur Jehan H. Omar, and Khaula T. Abdul Kassem, Level IV students who have accepted the challenge to represent the BaSC Nursing Department. These students are ready to set the battlefield on fire, equipped with Nightingale’s spirit, skills, knowledge, and utmost purpose, along with their unwavering determination. With the guidance and steadfast support of their dedicated clinical instructors and team coach Ms. Eftizam A. Langa, they are prepared to rise to the occasion.
