The Local Government Unit of Isabela City, under the leadership of City Mayor Hon. Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman, through the Public Employment Service Office (PESO), headed by PESO Manager Aradelria T. Belleng, in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) Regional Training Center (RTC) – Zamboanga Peninsula, continued the Bookkeeping NC III Training Program through a focused mock examination and intensive practice session.

Facilitated by Mrs. Gaililian Gerangaya, the participants took part in a mock examination designed to simulate the conditions and requirements of their upcoming competency assessment. The activity allowed the learners to apply their knowledge, manage their time, and demonstrate their understanding of bookkeeping concepts through practical exercises.

A major focus of the session was Service Business, where participants worked through bookkeeping transactions and accounting procedures commonly encountered in service-oriented enterprises. Through hands-on exercises, they practiced analyzing transactions, recording journal entries, posting to the ledger, preparing adjustments, and completing the necessary accounting records.

The mock examination also served as an opportunity for participants to assess their readiness. By working through examination-type activities, they were able to identify areas that require further review while strengthening their accuracy, confidence, and familiarity with bookkeeping procedures.

As the competency assessment approaches, these practice activities help prepare our learners not only to answer examination questions but also to perform actual bookkeeping tasks with greater competence and confidence.

Every exercise, every correction, and every mock examination brings them one step closer to becoming competent, confident, and workplace-ready bookkeepers.

Today, Bawlu Bites has its own physical store located at Barangay Aguada, near Terminal Maluso, where customers can also enjoy food and beverages.

The Local Government Unit of Isabela City, under the leadership of City Mayor Hon. Sitti Djalia A. Facilitated by Mrs. Gaililian Gerangaya, the session gave the participants an opportunity to further strengthen their bookkeeping knowledge through hands-on exercises, problem-solving activities, and practice examinations covering the different stages of the accounting cycle.

From analyzing transactions and preparing journal entries to posting to the ledger, completing adjustments, preparing trial balances, and generating financial statements, the participants continued to work through practical bookkeeping problems designed to improve their accuracy and understanding.

The practice examinations also provided the learners with a better picture of what to expect during the upcoming assessment. Through repeated exercises, they were able to identify areas where they need further improvement, review concepts they have learned, and develop greater confidence in answering bookkeeping-related tasks.

As the competency assessment draws closer, every practice session becomes an important opportunity to strengthen skills, improve accuracy, and build confidence.

The journey toward becoming a competent bookkeeper is not simply about passing an assessment—it is about developing the knowledge, discipline, and practical skills needed to perform bookkeeping tasks accurately in the workplace.

The Public Employment Services Office (PESO) – Isabela City, through the HAPIsabida Employment Pathway Program, proudly highlights the inspiring journey of 𝐏𝐚𝐭 𝐀𝐦𝐞𝐞𝐫 𝐌𝐮𝐡𝐬𝐢 𝐒. 𝐌𝐮𝐡𝐚𝐣𝐢𝐥, a former Special Program for Employment of Students (SPES) beneficiary.

His journey began at Basilan State College, where he spent three consecutive years as a working student and SPES beneficiary. The opportunities he received through SPES became an important foundation in developing his discipline, perseverance, and commitment to his goals.

From his early experience as a student worker, he went on to serve at the City Information Office, gained valuable professional experience at the House of Representatives, and is now pursuing a career dedicated to serving and protecting the community through the Philippine National Police (PNP).

His story demonstrates that employment opportunities can become pathways toward greater possibilities. What may begin as a temporary opportunity can provide the experience, values, and confidence needed to pursue a meaningful career and a life of service.

Facilitated by Mrs. Gaililian Gerangaya, the session provided the participants with practical exercises covering the different stages of the bookkeeping process—from analyzing business transactions and journalizing entries to posting to the ledger, preparing the trial balance, and completing the necessary adjustments.

The participants also practiced preparing financial statements based on the information gathered throughout the accounting cycle. They worked through exercises that allowed them to trace how individual transactions are transformed into organized financial information that can be used in preparing the Income Statement, Statement of Financial Position, and other relevant financial reports.

A key part of the session focused on the completion of the financial cycle, including the preparation of closing entries. Through hands-on activities, the learners were able to understand how temporary accounts are closed and how the accounting records are prepared for the next accounting period.

To further reinforce their learning, the participants answered practice examinations covering the different stages of the financial cycle. These exercises helped them improve their accuracy, identify areas that require further practice, and become more familiar with the process of solving bookkeeping problems under examination conditions.

The session emphasized that competent bookkeeping goes beyond recording transactions. It requires a clear understanding of how each step connects—from the initial journal entry to the preparation of reliable financial statements and the closing of accounts.

As the participants continue to prepare for their competency assessment, every practice exercise brings them closer to becoming more confident, accurate, and workplace-ready bookkeepers.

𝐈𝐒𝐀𝐁𝐄𝐋𝐀 𝐂𝐈𝐓𝐘, 𝐁𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐋𝐀𝐍 — DICT Basilan, in partnership with PESO Isabela City, successfully conducted the 𝐈𝐂𝐓 𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 – 𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭 𝐏𝐡𝐨𝐭𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐲 & 𝐑𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐬 on September 30, 2026, at the Digital Transformation Center (DTC), Isabela City, Basilan.

The training brought together beneficiaries of the HAPIsabida Entrepreneurship/Livelihood Pathway Program, providing them with practical digital skills designed to strengthen their online presence, promote their products, and create new opportunities to increase their sales through digital platforms.

The activity opened with a brief opening program before the participants proceeded to the morning session facilitated by Sir Edric, focusing on 𝐂𝐲𝐛𝐞𝐫 𝐇𝐲𝐠𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐞. The session emphasized the importance of practicing safe and responsible digital habits, particularly for entrepreneurs who are increasingly using online platforms to manage and promote their businesses.

In the afternoon, the participants took part in the 𝐂𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐞𝐞𝐥𝐬 𝐓𝐫𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠, where they moved beyond theory and applied what they learned through hands-on activities. Participants created short-form videos featuring various local products, giving them an opportunity to practice product presentation, content creation, and digital storytelling.

The training also featured an inspirational message from Sir Micheal Jolo, encouraging the participants to maximize digital tools and continue developing their skills as they build and grow their respective livelihoods.

Through initiatives such as this, DICT Basilan and PESO Isabela City continue to equip local entrepreneurs with relevant digital competencies—helping transform local products into stronger digital brands and opening more pathways toward sustainable livelihood and online entrepreneurship.
