Pagpupugay sa Kagitingan ng mga Bayani!

‎The Local Government Unit of Isabela de Basilan under the leadership of Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman through the City Tourism Office is one with the entire Filipino nation in the observance of 84th Araw ng Kagitingan, with the theme "Giting ng Bayan, Pamana sa Salinlahi."

Araw ng Kagitingan, also known as the Day of Valor or Bataan Day, is a national observance in the Philippines held annually on April 9. It commemorates the heroism of Filipino and American soldiers who fought during World War II, particularly during the Fall of Bataan, when Filipino and American forces surrendered to the Japanese Imperial Army in 1942.

The Day of Valor was originally a national observance until Letter of Instruction No. 1087, dated November 26, 1980, declared “Araw ng Kagitingan” a national public holiday to honor those who contributed to the country’s freedom and democracy during World War II. Executive Order No. 203, dated June 30, 1987, further proclaimed April 9 as “Araw ng Kagitingan” to pay tribute to the heroes of Bataan, Corregidor, and Bessang Pass.

‎Here in the Happy City of Isabela de Basilan, we continue to honor our heroes and the sacrifices made by those who fought for freedom and democracy of our country.

‎Mabuhay ang katapangan at sakripisyo ng ating mga bayani! 🇵🇭
