The 6th Special Forces โ€œLionheartโ€ Battalion continues to strengthen its operational readiness through specialized training programs that enhance both inter-agency coordination and interoperability among security forces and disaster response stakeholders.

From 25 to 27 May 2026, a three-day Water Search and Rescue (WASAR) Training was conducted at the 19th Special Forces Company, Brgy. Tabuk, Isabela City, Basilan Province, in collaboration with the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Department (CDRRMD). The training brought together 41 participants from the 13th Special Forces Company, 19th Special Forces Company, 18th Infantry Battalion, 32nd Infantry Battalion and 45th Infantry Battalion.

The activity highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration in disaster preparedness and emergency response operations. Through the expertise shared by the CDRRMD and the active participation of military personnel, the training enhanced coordination mechanisms, strengthened partnerships, and improved the collective capability of participating units to conduct effective and timely water search and rescue operations during emergencies and natural disasters and calamities.

Complementing this effort, the Battalion also successfully conducted the Tactical Radio Operation and Maintenance Training (TROM-T) from 19 to 27 May 2026 at the 6SFBn Headquarters, Brgy. Cabunbata, Isabela City, Basilan Province. The training focused on developing the participantsโ€™ competencies in the operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance of tactical communication systems which are vital in operating in a complex environment and rugged terrain.

More importantly, the training reinforced interoperability among participating units by enhancing their ability to establish, maintain, and integrate communication networks across different operational environments. Through hands-on exercises and technical instruction, participants improved their capabilities to ensure seamless communication, facilitate timely information sharing, and support coordinated operations among military units and partner agencies.

These initiatives reflect the Battalion's steadfast commitment to building a highly capable, adaptable, and mission-ready force while fostering stronger partnerships and interoperability essential to the successful ex*****on of both security and humanitarian assistance missions.

On May 21, 2026, the 6th Special Forces Battalion, under the leadership of Lt. Colonel Geoffrey A. Fabros, participated in the Inter-Agency Stakeholders Meeting and Planning for Programs Against Violent Extremism (PAVE) 2.0: Kaelluman held at Sitti Auna Riverland Resort, Lamitan City, Basilan, together with the 1101st Infantry Brigade, 18th Infantry Battalion, 32nd Infantry Battalion, 45th Infantry Battalion, Philippine National Police, National Government Units, Local Government Agencies and Nagdilaab Foundation.

The activity marked the continuation and revitalization of the PAVE program in the Province of Basilan, which had been inactive since Calendar Year 2016. The gathering served as a collaborative platform among stakeholders to strengthen initiatives geared toward peacebuilding, reconciliation, and community development in support of Former Violent Extremists (FVEs), who will later be recognized as Peace Advocates.

A series of workshops and planning sessions were conducted focusing on sustainable livelihood programs, access to quality education, and psychological support mechanisms aimed at helping former violent extremists successfully reintegrate into society and become productive members of their communities. The activity also emphasized the importance of inter-agency cooperation and community-based approaches in addressing the root causes of violent extremism while promoting lasting peace and development in Basilan.

The 6th Special Forces Battalion remains steadfast in supporting whole-of-nation efforts that foster peace, unity, and sustainable development for the people of Basilan.
