In observance of National Disability Week 2026, the City Government of Isabela de Basilan, under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman, joins the nation in celebrating this year's observance with the theme, "Rights First, Legislation Forward โ Strategic Action for Equal Participation and Inclusive Development." Through this celebration, the City reaffirms its commitment to upholding the rights, dignity, and active participation of persons with disabilities (PWDs).
Recognizing that accessibility empowers individuals, Mayor Turabin-Hataman recently provided Mr. Tingtong Sanchez with an electric wheelchair to enhance his mobility and enable him to carry out his work more efficiently and independently.
This initiative is aligned with the Isabela City Gender and Development (GAD) Office's Care for Vulnerable Sectors, one of its six flagship programs, which promotes the welfare, protection, accessibility, and inclusion of persons with disabilities, senior citizens, solo parents, children, and other vulnerable sectors.
As we commemorate National Disability Week, let us continue working together to build an inclusive and accessible Isabela City where everyone has the opportunity to participate, contribute, and thrive.
