Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) cash aid was distributed to 237 Kabankalanons on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at Kabankalan City Hall.

The payout, facilitated by the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) at the City Hall Lobby, assisted individuals facing various crisis situations. Of the total amount, ₱1.435 million was provided as medical assistance to 176 beneficiaries, while ₱565,000 was allocated for burial assistance to 58 beneficiaries. Three residents affected by natural calamities received a total of ₱25,000.

Mayor Benjie Miranda emphasized the importance of collaboration between the national and Local Government in providing support to Filipinos in crisis.

Meanwhile, SP Member Helen Ibañez urged residents to prioritize their health and remain hopeful, while CSWDO Chief Cyril Ramos reminded recipients of the program’s guidelines and proper use of the assistance.

The City Government of Kabankalan secured 2nd Place in the City Category of the Kiosk Competition during the 52nd Founding Anniversary of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) on August 28, 2026, at Camp Alfredo M. Montelibano Sr., Bacolod City.

The kiosk, jointly presented by the Local Economic Investment Promotions Office (LEIPO), Kabankalan City Showroom and Pasalubong Center, and City Tourism Office, showcased the city’s local products, tourism identity, creativity, and community pride.

Dr. Elma B. Bachita, PhD, PESO Manager of Kabankalan City, formally assumed the presidency of the PESOMAP NIR, Inc. after taking her oath as the organization’s newly elected president for the 2026–2028 term during its 1st Regional Congress.

The oath-taking ceremony was administered by Atty. Radolf Pensoy, Regional Director, and witnessed by Asst. Regional Director Mellisa Navarra, TSSD Head Nolie Torres, NOCFO Head Gretchen Pasiolan, and Kabankalan City Mayor Benjie M. Miranda.

The City Government of Kabankalan congratulates Dr. Bachita on her new leadership role and wishes her success in advancing employment opportunities and services throughout the region.

ERPAT (Empowerment and Reaffirmation of Paternal Abilities) Upper Locotan Chapter constructed a bamboo bridge on Sunday, August 30, ensuring a safer daily commute for local schoolchildren.

Embracing the traditional spirit of dagyaw, the men pooled their time, tools, and skills to build the crossing that now links Sitio Santol and Sitio Luwag in Barangay Locotan.

The newly constructed bridge provides residents and young learners with a secure, highly accessible passage.

The City Government of Kabankalan commended the Upper Locotan chapter for their exemplary service.

In its continuing effort to empower the local agricultural sector, the City Government of Kabankalan has granted a ₱150,000 livelihood assistance project to the Barangay Tapi Farmworkers and Farmers Association (BATAFWAFA).

The financial support is designed to strengthen the association’s local enterprises, ensuring sustainable economic growth and improving the daily income of its farmer-members.

The successful turnover of the project highlights the collaborative work of local officials, driven by the initiatives of SP Member Jose Dumaguete and Vice Mayor Divina Gracia S. Miranda. The distribution was actively facilitated by the Community Affairs Section (CAS), led by Hernan Divinagracia and his staff.

Reaffirming the city's commitment to grassroots development, Executive Assistant Joel Tagapan attended on behalf of the City Mayor’s Office, joined by Barangay Tapi Kagawad Janjan Miranda Amasyo. Through this grant, the city government aims to equip BATAFWAFA with the resources needed for long-term agricultural success.
