GAD LIVELIHOOD TRAINING. The Department of Environment and Natural Resources 12 Gender and Development (GAD) under Planning and Management Division (PMD) headed by Emily B. Ampatuan, EnP, Regional GAD Focal Person together with Engr. Sheryl R. Cabildo, Alternate GAD Focal Person, Mae Joie Q. Sack, GAD member, and Marialyn S. Sarte, GAD Technical staff led the conduct of livelihood training entitled: Reskilling and upskilling of women affected by economic fallout due to Covid-19 Pandemic for Biodiversity friendly enterprise Development held at Lebak, Sultan Kudarat on July 28-29, 2021.

Through the active support of CENRO Kalamansig personnel headed by Forester Iskak G. Dipatuan, OIC-CENR Officer, Forester Corazon S. Ozaraga, GAD Focal Person, Julnalyn T. Diong, HR Focal Person, Aisa V. Abdulazis, Information Officer together with People’s Organization (PO) chairperson – Ms. Melinda L. Tapay and selected residence of the said municipality the activity worked out.

Also present the resource speaker Sir Aidee S. Ozaraga, Jr. Licensed Agriculturist which demonstrates the mushroom production and its maintenance. After conducting the actual demonstration/training sessions participants are expected to grow their own mushrooms. A total of 800 fruiting bags will be given to 40 participants as start-up including the proper guidance and monitoring.

Part of it also is to strengthen the knowledge on modern farming technology, women empowerment, increase resilience and will be able to generate another source of income and food.

LOOK: Induction of officers and members of SFFI Kalamansig Chapter

The Society of Filipino Forester Incorporated (SFFI) Kalamansig Chapter performed the induction of its officers and members on July 29, 2021 held at Limbuan Resto, Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat.

Through the led of Forester Iskak G. Dipatuan, OIC-CENR Officer (CENRO Kalamansig)/SFFI President Region 12 together with the newly elected President (Local) SFFI Kalamansig Chapter Mosa D. Dimaampao, Ph.D, different advisers such as; Forester Alimbsar A. Sampal, Forester Joy M. Melodias, Forester Mando S. Maguid and other local officers of the said inauguration the event made successful.

The organization had set their objectives in line with their ideals and aims. The objective is to safeguard the welfare of professional foresters in the local level another is to assist in the full development, wise use and conservation of forest land, and to take appropriate stands on local issues concerning forestry and the profession.

Also present the keynote speaker Ms. Teresita R. Antolin, Director II/CSC Field Office –South Cotabato which set up the main theme and tone of the event.

Illegal Wildlife Traders busted in Koronadal City

KORONADAL CITY, SOUTH COTABATO – Another alleged wildlife traders were arrested Wednesday, July 28, in Koronadal City by the authorities from the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) Region 12 and Philippine National Police (PNP).

DENR-12 Assistant Regional Director for Technical Services Engr. Mama G. Samaon said that they have received an information of an alleged selling of Philippine Hanging Parrots, widely known as Colasisi, in the social media.

Forester Dirie P. Macabaning, chief of the DENR-12 Enforcement Division, immediately ordered the investigation of the alleged online wildlife trafficking.

Two suspects from Tampakan, South Cotabato were successfully apprehended by the DENR-12 Enforcement Division with the assistance of Koronadal City Police Station during the entrapment operation on July 28 in this city including the 20 heads of Colasisi.

Chief Macabaning stressed that it is a clear violation of the Section 27 of Republic Act 9147 or the “Wildlife Resources Conservation and Protection Act.”

Criminal complaint was also filed by the agency against the suspects before the Office of the City Prosecutor of Koronadal.

The Parrots were also turned over to DENR-12 Regional Widlife Rescue Center at Sultan Kudarat State University Lutayan Campus.

CENRO Kalamansig headed by Forester Iskak G. Dipatuan, OIC-CENR Officer together with Forester Shalimar A. Disomangcop, OIC- PENR Officer, Forester Mosa D. Dimaampao, Ph.D, Chief Conservation and Development Section (CDS), Mr. Julius M. Guirjen, Assisting Professional (Consultant) and CENRO Kalamansig CDS support staffs successfully conducted the Public Consultation for the establishment of KaLePa as Protected Landscape/Seascape for inclusion to RA 11038 or ENIPAS Act of 2018 on July 22, 2021 at Training Center Lebak and Poblacion Covered court, Kalamansig.

After public notification thru Brigada News circulations last May 12 and 17, 2021 by Joseph Jubelag and several schedules postponed due to the current situation on Covid-19 Pandemic the final draft made successful following the minimum health protocols. This is though the active support and participation of different stakeholders such as; BFAR, DA, MENROs, Municipal Tourism Offices, MPDOs, LGUs in the lead of Hon. Mayor Rolando P. Garcia, Municipal Mayor Kalamansig represented by former ARD for technical services DENR XII Ms. Ma. Socoro C. Lanto, Municipal Administrator of Kalamansig, Hon. Joaquin Co**ha, Municipal Vice Mayor of Kalamansig represented by Hon. Christopher Norbe, SB Secretary, Hon. Frederick Celestial, Municipal Mayor Lebak represented by Joel Bernales, Municipal Administrator of Lebak, Hon. Nathaniel Castillon, Municipal Vice Mayor of Lebak represented by Juneva Fe Asis, MENRO Lebak, SB members, and different BLGUs/coastal barangays of Lebak & Kalamansig.
