PNP STATEMENT ON REPORTED DRUG SHIPMENTS IN LAOS AND THAILAND

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is strengthening intelligence monitoring and working with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and other concerned authorities following reports of separate drug shipments seized in Laos and Thailand that were allegedly bound for the Philippines.

The PNP is looking into available information concerning both incidents, including reports linking a Filipino national to the shipment involving a private jet in Laos. The circumstances surrounding each incident will be assessed separately, based on available information and evidence, to determine whether further police action under Philippine law is warranted.

The PNP is also engaging with foreign law enforcement counterparts through appropriate channels to help address possible transnational drug-trafficking activities and prevent criminal groups from using the Philippines as a destination or transit point for illegal drugs.

The PNP emphasizes that reported allegations must be established through evidence and that due process must be observed. It remains committed to working with domestic and international law enforcement partners to combat illegal drug trafficking and hold accountable those found responsible in accordance with the law.

PNP, PARTNERS SEIZE 1.4 TONS OF MEAT PRODUCTS IN FOOD SAFETY OPERATION

Under the leadership of Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), authorities are strengthening efforts to protect Filipino consumers as the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), together with the National Meat Inspection Service (NMIS) and the Department of Agriculture Inspectorate and Enforcement (DAIE), seized 1,443 kilograms of mishandled and improperly documented meat products at Balintawak Public Market in Quezon City.

The joint operation, conducted from late evening of October 8 until the early hours of October 9, resulted in the confiscation of meat products estimated at ₱353,000.00. The items were found to be mishandled, unregistered, or sourced from unaccredited establishments, raising concerns over compliance with Republic Act No. 10536, which strengthens the country's meat inspection system.

The operation highlights the importance of inter-agency cooperation in enforcing food safety regulations and protecting consumers from potential health risks. It also supports the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations, through coordinated and targeted action against violations affecting public welfare.

President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has emphasized the importance of food security and consumer protection. In support of these priorities, the PNP continues to work with partner agencies to help ensure that regulations designed to safeguard Filipino families are properly enforced.

Chief PNP PGen Nartatez underscored that public safety also means paying attention to everyday concerns that directly affect households.

“Kapag pagkain ng pamilya ang pinag-uusapan, mahalagang alam nating ligtas at maayos ang produktong binibili natin. We will continue working with our partner agencies to make sure that food safety rules are followed and that consumers are protected from avoidable risks. This is about being responsible in our duties and responsive to the needs of the public,” PGen Nartatez said.

The PNP calls on traders and market operators to comply with meat inspection, handling, and storage requirements. Consumers are likewise encouraged to purchase meat products from legitimate sources.

Through coordinated enforcement and continued partnership with concerned agencies, the PNP remains committed to protecting communities and upholding its service commitment under the Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

TWO SUSPECTS ARRESTED, 55 CELLPHONES RECOVERED IN ₱3.69-MILLION CEBU ROBBERIES

Under the leadership of Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), police have arrested two adult suspects and recovered 55 cellular phones in connection with two robbery incidents involving gadget shops in Danao City, Cebu, with reported losses reaching ₱3.69 million.

The arrests followed coordinated investigation and follow-up operations after two shops along the National Road in Barangay Sabang were robbed on October 8, 2026. Police located the two suspects aboard a white van in Daanbantayan, Cebu, shortly after midnight on October 9. Aside from the cellular phones, the operation yielded one tablet and one charger.

Four other adult suspects and other individuals reportedly identified as minors are still being pursued. Police are continuing efforts to locate them and recover the remaining allegedly stolen items as investigators work to establish the circumstances surrounding the incidents.

The case underscores the importance of prompt reporting and coordinated police action in protecting businesses and the public. It supports President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.’s peace and order agenda and the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO), through coordinated, evidence-based law enforcement.

“Kapag negosyo ang tinamaan ng ganitong insidente, hindi lang ari-arian ang naaapektuhan—pati kabuhayan at pakiramdam ng seguridad ng mga tao. We want business owners and the public to know that reports like these are taken seriously. We encourage anyone with relevant information to coordinate with the police, and we will continue following the evidence to account for those involved while respecting due process,” Chief PNP PGen Nartatez said.

The PNP also reminds business owners to strengthen basic security measures, including securing doors and locks, maintaining functional surveillance cameras where possible, and promptly reporting suspicious activity or break-ins to authorities. The public is likewise urged not to confront suspected offenders or circulate unverified allegations online, but to share relevant information through proper channels.

The two arrested suspects remain in police custody while investigators prepare the necessary documents for the filing of appropriate charges. The PNP will continue pursuing the case and reinforcing its commitment to Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.
