While conducting Police Visibility operations in line with LIGTAS SUMVAC, personnel of PECU Cotabato, led by PCPT JERRY PONS L PANAGUE, encountered an individual who had fallen and sustained a minor injury on the left knee. Without hesitation, PMSg Ian Francis D Seniel stepped forward, extending immediate assistance and administering first aid.

In moments like these, uniforms become more than symbols of authority, they become instruments of care, compassion, and humanity. This act, though small to some, reflects a deeper commitment: to protect, to serve, and to be present when the community needs it most.

May this serve as a reminder that beyond enforcement lies empathy, and behind every badge is a heart ready to help.

OVER 7,300 FORCES MOBILIZED TO SECURE ASEAN SUMMIT 2026 IN CEBU

A large-scale security deployment was formally launched at the Mactan Shrine in Lapu-Lapu City on Saturday, May 2, 2026, with more than 7,300 personnel from various government security and emergency response agencies mobilized in preparation for the ASEAN Summit 2026 in Central Visayas.

The send-off ceremony was led by local officials and top security leaders, together with PNP Chief, PGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., marking the full activation of coordinated national security measures for one of the region’s most significant diplomatic events.

PNP Chief, PGEN Nartatez also conducted an aerial inspection over key areas in Central Visayas to assess operational readiness, validate deployment plans, and ensure seamless coordination of security forces across critical sites, transport routes, and event venues.

The Task Group Central Visayas under the Committee on Security, Peace and Order, and Emergency Preparedness and Response (CSPOEPR) was formally activated, integrating forces from the PNP, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), Department of Health (DOH), Office of Civil Defense (OCD), and other partner agencies. The deployment covers site security, convoy protection, coastal and airspace monitoring, traffic management, emergency medical response, and rapid incident handling.

PGEN Nartatez emphasized that preparations for the summit have been comprehensive, deliberate, and continuously refined.

β€œThis operation is the result of extensive planning and sustained coordination, drawing from established best practices in previous national and international events. We are fully prepared to ensure a safe and secure ASEAN Summit,” he said.

He also underscored that deployment levels are calibrated based on operational requirements to maintain optimal security coverage at all times.

The ASEAN Summit 2026 will be held on May 7 to 8 in Lapu-Lapu City, with foreign delegates arriving as early as May 5 and expected to depart until May 12. The event is expected to gather world leaders to discuss key regional issues including security cooperation, economic integration, and policy development.

Anchored on the PNP Focused Agendaβ€”a transformation framework designed to make police service more responsive, efficient, and community-centeredβ€”the deployment highlights strengthened inter-agency coordination and intelligence-driven operations, particularly under enhanced managing police operations and active community support, ensuring a safe, orderly, and secure environment for the international summit.

As the PNP leads comprehensive security operations for ASEAN Summit 2026 under the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., the PNP continues to assure the public of β€œBagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong mabilis, tapat, at nararamdaman.”

Nartatez Jr., reported the destruction of approximately β‚±25.7 million worth of ma*****na plants in a series of anti-illegal drug operations conducted in the Cordillera region from April 13 to 19, 2026.

A total of 22 eradication operations were carried out by police units, leading to the uprooting of around 94,918 fully grown ma*****na plants and the seizure of about 56.6 kilograms of dried ma*****na products. These operations were conducted in key areas identified as cultivation sites, with the bulk of the plants discovered in Benguet, Mountain Province, and Kalinga.

PNP Chief, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., underscored that these operations are part of a sustained effort to cut the supply of illegal drugs at the source.

Tuloy-tuloy ang ating aksyonβ€”walang ligtas sa batas,” he said.

He added that the campaign is aligned with the PNP Focused Agenda, particularly under Enhanced Managing Police Operations. β€œWe are targeting production areas to stop the spread of illegal drugs before they reach our streets. This is a proactive and sustained approach,” he noted.

The Chief PNP also issued a strong warning to those involved in illegal drug cultivation and trade. Hindi kami titigil,” he stressed.

The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and cooperate with authorities by reporting suspicious activities in their communities. The PNP emphasized that public support is crucial in sustaining the gains of anti-illegal drug operations.

These efforts are in line with the directive of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to strengthen the campaign against illegal drugs while ensuring the safety and security of communities nationwide.

The unannounced testing covered 45 members of the PNP Public Information Office (PIO), including uniformed, non-uniformed personnel, and civilian employees.

β€œSaving lives is a fundamental duty of every police officer.

β€œWe will go the extra mile to reach those in need.

FOREIGN NATIONAL BUSTED WITH β‚±102-M SHABU AT NAIA

The Philippine National Police (PNP) reported the arrest of a foreign national in a drug interdiction operation at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on March 20, 2026.

The operation, conducted at around 12:47 AM at the Arrival Lobby Custom X-Ray Area of NAIA Terminal 1 in Pasay City, was carried out by joint operatives of the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group and the Aviation Security Unit of the PNP Aviation Security Group.

Authorities apprehended a Malaysian female passenger upon the discovery of more or less 15,024 grams of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of β‚±102,163,000.00.

The suspect is now under police custody and will face charges for violation of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, as authorities continue to build the case and trace possible links.

This operation highlights the continued strengthening of border security and anti-drug efforts under the PNP’s focused agenda on enhanced managing police operations, in support of the broader directives of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. to curb the entry of illegal drugs into the country.

Chief PNP, Police General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., commended the operating units for their swift and coordinated action.

Patuloy nating paiigtingin ang ating pagbabantay,” PGEN Nartatez said.

He added that the PNP will sustain intensified intelligence and interdiction operations, especially in major gateways, to ensure that drug syndicates are stopped at the borders.

The Philippine National Police assures the public that it will remain firm and relentless in its anti-drug campaign, in line with its commitment to a Bagong PNP para sa Bagong Pilipinas: Serbisyong Mabilis, Tapat at Nararamdaman.

β€œEvery life matters, and our personnel must always be ready to respond with care and urgency.
