The ๐ฃ๐ฟ๐ผ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐น ๐๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฟ๐ป๐บ๐ฒ๐ป๐ ๐ผ๐ณ ๐๐ธ๐น๐ฎ๐ป and the ๐ผ๐ ๐ก๐๐ฃ ๐๐๐๐๐ช๐ ๐ค๐ ๐๐ก๐๐ฃ๐ฃ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐ฟ๐๐ซ๐๐ก๐ค๐ฅ๐ข๐๐ฃ๐ฉ ๐พ๐ค๐ค๐ง๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ฉ๐ค๐ง๐จ, ๐๐ฃ๐. (๐ผ๐๐๐ฟ๐พ๐), in partnership with the ๐๐๐๐ก๐๐ฅ๐ฅ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐ฃ๐จ๐ฉ๐๐ฉ๐ช๐ฉ๐ ๐ค๐ ๐๐ค๐ก๐๐๐ฃ๐ค๐ก๐ค๐๐ฎ ๐๐ฃ๐ ๐๐๐๐จ๐ข๐ค๐ก๐ค๐๐ฎ (๐๐๐๐๐๐๐พ๐), conducted the five-day ๐๐๐ฅ๐๐ ๐๐๐ง๐ฉ๐๐ฆ๐ช๐๐ ๐ ๐ฟ๐๐ข๐๐๐ ๐ผ๐จ๐จ๐๐จ๐จ๐ข๐๐ฃ๐ฉ ๐๐ฎ๐จ๐ฉ๐๐ข (๐๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐) ๐๐ค๐๐ฉ๐ฌ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ง๐๐๐ฃ๐๐ฃ๐ at Pinnacle Boracay, Balabag, Malay, Aklan from May 4โ8, 2026.
The activity gathered a total of 94 ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฝ๐ฎ๐ป๐๐ composed of representatives from local government units (LGUs), national government agencies, planners, engineers, disaster risk reduction and management officers, academic institutions, and technical personnel from various provinces and municipalities across the country.
Participating agencies and institutions included the Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Office of Civil Defense (OCD), Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD), and Aklan State University (ASU). Participants from outside Aklan also joined the activity, including representatives from the Municipalities of San Juan and Maasin in Southern Leyte, Culasi in Antique, Carles in Iloilo, Maasim in Sarangani, and Tarragona in Davao Oriental.
The five-day training aimed to strengthen the technical capability of LGUs and partner agencies in disaster risk assessment, hazard mapping, earthquake impact simulation, and science-based planning through the use of the ๐ฅ๐๐๐๐ฆ ๐๐ผ๐ณ๐๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐ฒ ๐ฑ๐ฒ๐๐ฒ๐น๐ผ๐ฝ๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฏ๐ ๐ฃ๐๐๐ฉ๐ข๐๐๐ฆ.
Throughout the training, participants underwent comprehensive discussions, workshops, and hands-on exercises on various REDAS modules and applications, including exposure database development, seismic hazard assessment, tsunami simulation, flood and rainfall monitoring, earthquake impact assessment, geologic hazards, and multi-hazard impact assessment tools.
Participants also conducted fieldwork activities and database management exercises to enhance practical application and technical familiarity with the system.
The training also featured sessions on ๐ฅ๐๐๐๐ฆ ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ๐น๐น๐ถ๐๐ฒ ๐ฅ๐ฎ๐ถ๐ป๐ณ๐ฎ๐น๐น ๐ ๐ผ๐ป๐ถ๐๐ผ๐ฟ (๐ฆ๐ฅ๐ ), ๐๐ฎ๐ฟ๐๐ต๐พ๐๐ฎ๐ธ๐ฒ ๐ฎ๐ป๐ฑ ๐ง๐๐๐ป๐ฎ๐บ๐ถ ๐๐น๐ฒ๐ฟ๐๐ถ๐ป๐ด ๐ ๐ผ๐ฑ๐๐น๐ฒ (๐๐ง๐๐ ), ๐ฝ๐๐ง๐๐ฃ๐๐๐ฎ ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ง๐ ๐๐ฃ๐ฉ๐๐ฃ๐จ๐๐ฉ๐ฎ ๐๐๐ข๐ช๐ก๐๐ฉ๐๐ค๐ฃ, ๐๐ก๐ค๐ค๐ ๐๐ค๐จ๐จ ๐ผ๐จ๐จ๐๐จ๐จ๐ข๐๐ฃ๐ฉ ๐๐ค๐ค๐ก (๐๐๐ค๐ผ๐), and ๐ฅ๐๐๐๐ฆ ๐ฆ๐๐๐ธ๐ฒ for earthquake impact assessment computations and scenario simulations.
These modules are expected to support local governments in strengthening preparedness, contingency planning, emergency response, and evidence-based development planning.
The REDAS Training was first conducted in Aklan in 2013, also held in Boracay.
This yearโs activity served as a continuation of the Provinceโs commitment to institutionalizing hazard assessment and integrating disaster resilience into local development planning and governance, particularly in support of the Provincial Development and Physical Framework Plan (PDPFP) and disaster risk reduction and management initiatives.
