A new chapter begins for the youth and agriculture in Aklan!

The Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Aklan has officially approved on its third and final reading the Provincial Search for Promising Young Aklanon Agripreneurs (PYAA) Ordinance—a landmark initiative that institutionalizes support for young individuals who are passionate about agriculture, fisheries, and agribusiness.

This ordinance reflects the Province’s commitment to investing in the next generation of farmers, fisherfolk, and agripreneurs by creating more opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable rural development.

Through the program, aspiring and existing young agripreneurs aged 15 to 30 years old will have access to:
🌾 Capacity-building and technical training
💰 Financial assistance and enterprise support
🤝 Mentorship and business development services
📈 Market linkages and institutional partnerships
🏆 Opportunities to represent Aklan in national programs such as the Department of Agriculture’s Young Farmers Challenge, Gawad Saka, and other agricultural initiatives.

The program will cover various enterprise categories, including:
• Production
• Food Processing
• Non-Food Processing
• Agri-Tech and Digital Agriculture

The Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPA) will lead the implementation of the program in partnership with the Provincial Youth Development Office, the Panlalawigang Pederasyon ng mga Sangguniang Kabataan, local government units, national government agencies, educational institutions, and private sector stakeholders.

This milestone would not have been possible without the leadership of the ordinance’s principal sponsors, Hon. Edmundo M. Tolentino, Jr. and Hon. Reynaldo M. Quimpo, together with its co-sponsors, whose collective vision continues to pave the way for a stronger and more resilient agricultural sector in the Province of Aklan.

Together, let us inspire more young Aklanons to see agriculture not only as a livelihood but as a meaningful career, a thriving enterprise, and a driving force for food security and sustainable development.

The DA-High Value Crops Development Prorgam through the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist conducted consultation and assessment at ATI Banga, Aklan on July 22, 2026 for the First Semester of the CY 2026

Present during the assessment were DA- HVCDP Focal Person, Edmar R. Rebaldo, Provincial HVCDP Coordinator, Ms. Ma. Andrea T. Almero, HVCDP Report Officer, Ma. Isadora C. Quirogo and the Technical Staff and Focal Persons of the Provincial HVCDP Program. Also, the Coordinators and Report Officers accross Aklan's 17 municipalities were present.

The assessment emphasized the constant development of the program and also reviewed the program activities that have conducted so far by the coordinators. Morever, the assessment provided the opportunity for the coordinators to shares updates, insights and opinions regarding the program.

The High Value Crops Development Program pledges to continue serving the community in advocating farming, discuss opportunities that would strengthen and innovate the program and to create avenues to further the advocay of the program.

AKLAN – The Provincial Government of Aklan announces the successful completion of the first batch of the Local Government Support Fund (LGSF) – Bagong Pilipinas Rice Program, a flagship initiative of President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. aimed at strengthening food security and providing sustained rice assistance to Filipino families.

The completion of the first batch follows the official launch of the Bagong Pilipinas Rice Program in Aklan on June 22, 2026, led by Gov. Jose Enrique M. Miraflores, which signals the province's commitment to implementing one of the national government's key social assistance initiatives under the Bagong Pilipinas agenda.

Implemented across all 17 municipalities of Aklan, the program reflects the government's continued efforts to ensure that quality rice reaches deserving beneficiaries while promoting inclusive and sustainable development in the province.

For the first month, 34,285 beneficiaries from across the province each received one 10-kilogram bag of rice, with a total of 34,285 bags (342,850 kg rice) successfully distributed. The rice distributed uNder this program was sourced from local Aklanon farmers through the IBON Multi-Purpose Cooperative and Lezo Multi-Purpose Cooperative.

Under the program, the same beneficiaries who received assistance during Month 1 will continue to receive 10 kg of rice each month for the next three (3) months, ensuring sustained support for their households throughout the program's implementation.

During the program’s launching, 𝙂𝙤𝙫. 𝙅𝙤𝙨𝙚 𝙀𝙣𝙧𝙞𝙦𝙪𝙚 𝙈. The successful implementation of the Month 1 distribution was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist headed by 𝗘𝗻𝗴𝗿. 𝗔𝗹𝗲𝘅𝘆𝘀 𝗧. 𝗔𝗽𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗻𝗶𝗼, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office headed by 𝗘𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗚𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗮 and the Provincial Barangay Affairs Office led by 𝗜𝘃𝗮𝗻 𝗣𝗮𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗻 𝗝𝗿. , in close coordination with the counterparts from the Municipal Local Government Units and barangay officials. The collective efforts in program coordination, beneficiary validation, logistics, and distribution ensured the timely and orderly delivery of rice assistance to the beneficiaries across the province.

Moving forward, the Provincial Government of Aklan will continue to ensure the sustained and efficient implementation of the LGSF Bagong Pilipinas Rice Program for the next three (3) months. Regular coordination and monitoring among concerned provincial offices, municipal local government units, barangay officials, and partner cooperatives will be maintained to ensure the timely distribution of the remaining rice assistance to the same beneficiaries.

The FEDERATION OF 4-H CLUB (Rural Youth) of the PHILIPPINES, INC.-Aklan Chapter & AKLAN FEDERATION OF RURAL IMPROVEMENT CLUB in coordination with the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist, 4-H Club Buruanga Chapter, Sangguniang Kabataan-Buruanga & LGU-Buruanga will conduct “School Feeding Program in Celebration of Nutrition Month” on July 23, 2026 @ 10:30 a.m. and the target beneficiaries are the 125 students (Kinder to Grade 3) of Santander Elementary School, Santander, Buruanga, Aklan as part of their Community Development Service Program.

This activity aims to instill the spirit of volunteerism among the 4-H Club & Rural Improvement Club members through participation in neighborhood and community services and to extend help and assistance to the students in their physical, mental and spiritual development and improve the nutritional health for better living conditions.
