The Liga ng mga Barangay Aklan Chapter held its 13th Regular Meeting yesterday, November 28,2025 with active participation from municipal Liga presidents.
The following agenda items were discussed:

2. Provincial Congress 2026
3. Introduction of the New Municipal Liga President of Tangalan – Kap. Henry Cuanico

We extend our warmest welcome and congratulations to Kap. Henry B. Cuanico, who will now serve as the Municipal Liga President of Tangalan.
We look forward to his leadership and contributions to the Liga ng mga Barangay Aklan Chapter.

THE LIGA NG MGA BARANGAY AKLAN CHAPTER HOLDS SPECIAL ELECTION

The Liga ng mga Barangay Aklan Chapter successfully conducted a Special Election during its recent meeting to fill the positions of Vice President and Auditor.

We extend our congratulations to the winning unopposed candidates:

- Neil I. Candelario from Kalibo – Vice President
- Alex B. Dela Cruz from New Washington – Auditor

We were also honored by the presence of our Vice Governor Dexter M. Calizo, who took time from his schedule to attend and show his support for the organization.

This special election marks another milestone in the Chapter’s commitment to strengthen leadership, promote unity among member barangays, and advance the welfare of the Aklanon community.

TRIVIA: The Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB) is a performance assessment and recognition program for barangays in the Philippines. It recognizes barangays that demonstrate excellence in various governance areas, encouraging continuous improvement in public service delivery. The SGLGB focuses on core areas like Safety, Peace and Order; Financial Administration; and Disaster Preparedness, as well as essential areas like Social Protection and Sensitivity, Environmental Management, and Business-Friendliness and Competitiveness.

During the 2025 National Congress held on August 19 at the World Trade Center, several barangays from Cluster 3 were honored with the Seal of Good Local Governance for Barangays (SGLGB) — a testament to their exemplary governance and community leadership.

Among the awardees were six barangays from Aklan:
• Caticlan, Malay
• Mabilo, Kalibo
• Poblacion, Kalibo
• Tayhawan, Lezo
• Banaybanay, Malinao
• Dangcalan, Malinao

Our sincere appreciation goes to the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), under the leadership of Secretary Jonvic Remulla, for their unwavering support and guidance.

This recognition is more than an award — it is a symbol of genuine service and dedication to the nation.

Necrological Ceremony Honoring Hon. Rizal G. Rodriguez Jr.

A heartfelt tribute was held for the late Hon. Rizal Gonzalez Rodriguez Jr., Barangay Captain of Cabugao, Batan and Vice President of the Liga ng mga Barangay – Aklan Provincial Chapter. Family, friends, local officials, and colleagues came together to remember his decades of unwavering public service and leadership.

The Resolution of Condolences was formally presented to his family by Hon. Ralf Tolosa, Provincial Liga President, along with officers and members of the Liga ng mga Barangay – Aklan.

A dignified farewell to a well-loved leader who lived his life in dedicated service to the people.
