BUILDING A RESILIENT AKLAN: DOH-VI CONDUCTS DRRM-H INSTITUTIONALIZATION MONITORING & TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE IN KALIBO AND IBAJAY 🏥🚨

To ensure continuous health service delivery and rapid emergency response during disasters, the Department of Health – Center for Health Development Western Visayas (DOH-CHD VI) Monitoring Team, headed by Mr. Rovi Matulac and Mr. Jeff Agregado with the assistance of Mr. Rowene F. Perucho Jr and Marc Marc Jimley Crispino from Provincial Health Office - Aklan HEMS, conducted a comprehensive Disaster Risk Reduction and Management for Health (DRRM-H) Institutionalization Monitoring and Technical Assistance in the Municipalities of Kalibo and Ibajay, Aklan today, July 31, 2026.

This activity aims to assess, guide, and strengthen the capacity of Rural Health Units (RHUs) and Municipal Health Offices (MHOs) to effectively prepare for, respond to, and recover from public health emergencies, natural hazards, and crises.

A Historic First for Western Visayas! 🚨🚑

Aklan leads the way in emergency preparedness! The Provincial Health Office (PHO) Aklan and the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) Aklan in collaboration with expert instructors from various health facilities in Western Visayas, Negros Island and DOH Region VI, successfully concluded the Mass Casualty Management (MCM) Responders Training — the first-ever province-wide MCM training in Western Visayas!

As Dr. Sarah Marie Huyong, Provincial Health Officer I, noted in her opening address, proactive training and inter-agency unity are the backbones of saving lives during critical emergencies.

A big salute to the 30 graduates coming from the DRRM and Health Facilities in Aklan who officially received their Certificates of Completion!
