WEATHER ADVISORY | MUNICIPALITY OF KAPATAGAN

Based on the DOST-PAGASA 24-Hour Public Weather Forecast issued at 4:00 AM, August 18, 2026, the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) continues to affect parts of the country, while Mindanao may experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.

For Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte, residents are advised to remain alert and prepared, especially during the occurrence of severe thunderstorms.

Possible Hazards:
• Flash floods in low-lying and flood-prone areas
• Rain-induced landslides in landslide-prone areas
• Strong winds and lightning during thunderstorms
• Reduced visibility and slippery roads

PUBLIC REMINDER:
Residents are encouraged to:
-Monitor official weather updates and advisories from DOST-PAGASA and the MDRRMO.
-Avoid crossing rivers, creeks, and flooded roads during heavy rainfall.
-Secure light structures and loose outdoor materials.
-Stay indoors and avoid open areas during thunderstorms.
-Be vigilant for possible signs of landslides, especially in vulnerable areas.

PUBLIC ADVISORY | CLASS SUSPENSION DUE TO HIGH HEAT INDEX

The Local Government Unit of Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte, headed by Municipal Mayor Beth Baguio Ali, issues this public advisory in response to the prevailing and forecasted high heat index in Region X.

According to PAGASA-DOST Mindanao Regional Services Division, a heat index of 43°C was recorded in Region X, with a similar heat index forecast for August 13–14, 2026. Heat index levels of 42–51°C fall under the DANGER category, where prolonged exposure may lead to heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke.

📢 CLASS SUSPENSION

To prioritize the health, safety, and well-being of learners and school personnel, classes in ALL LEVELS in both public and private schools in Lungsod Sa Kapatagan are SUSPENDED starting at 1:00 PM today, August 13, 2026, until August 14, 2026.

Let us work together to protect our community from the dangers of extreme heat.

The Barangay Poblacion, Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte, headed by Punong Barangay Hon. Bryan Q. Baguio, together with the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Poblacion, warmly invites everyone to join our Synchronized Clean-Up Drive on:

This activity aims to promote environmental awareness, strengthen community cooperation, and maintain the cleanliness of our surroundings, including roads, canals, public areas, and the Villa Elena Creek.

We encourage all barangay officials, staff, organizations, schools, associations, and residents to participate and bring necessary cleaning materials such as gloves, rakes, shovels, sacks, and face masks.

🚨 EOC MONITORING UPDATE 🚨

As of 4:00 PM today, the water level marker installed at Butadon Bridge, Brgy. Butadon, Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte, has reached the ORANGE LEVEL. This indicates that the river water is continuously rising and requires heightened monitoring.

Public Advisory:

* Residents living in low-lying, flood-prone, and riverbank areas are advised to remain vigilant and closely monitor weather and river conditions.
* Prepare for possible evacuation should the water level continue to rise.
* Avoid crossing rivers, bridges, and flooded road sections.
* Follow updates and advisories from the MDRRMO Kapatagan and your respective Barangay Officials.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) continues to monitor the situation 24/7 and will issue further updates as necessary.

RESCUE OPERATION | July 11, 2026

Due to the continuous heavy rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), the Barangay Poblacion Rescue Team immediately responded to assist affected residents of Purok 15, Barangay Poblacion, Kapatagan, Lanao del Norte.

The rescue operation was carried out through the joint efforts of our Barangay Council , BPAT’s and Barangay Maintenance Personnel, with the full support and leadership of Hon. Bryan Q. Baguio, Punong Barangay.

We thank everyone who participated in ensuring the safety and well-being of our residents. We also encourage everyone to remain vigilant, monitor weather advisories, and immediately coordinate with the barangay in case of emergencies.
