READ: DSWD chief highlights impact of Bahay Pag-Asa for CICLs in Isabela
The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Secretary Rex Gatchalian recently visited Bahay Pag-Asa in Cauayan City, Isabela, on September 8, 2025, to engage directly with children in conflict with the law (CICLs) and highlight the positive changes brought about by the facility’s reformation and rehabilitation programs.
During his visit, Secretary Gatchalian conducted a “listening session” where he attentively heard the stories and aspirations of 19 young residents undergoing transformative programs aimed at reintegrating them into society. The session provided a vital platform for these youth to express their experiences, challenges, and hopes for a better future.
“Naniniwala kami sa ‘second chance’ kaya gusto naming marami pang ganitong maayos na Bahay Pag-Asa sa buong bansa para sa mga kabataan na nagkakamali,” (We believe in ‘second chances,’ which is why we want more well-managed Bahay Pag-Asa facilities across the country for young people who have made mistakes), he said.
