Katipunan MFS personnel, led by FINSP Richard A. Parame, conducted a School Emergency Response Plan (SERP) and School Emergency Response Team (SERT) briefing at Jose Ochotorena Elementary School as part of the OLP Masterplan Safe School Initiative. The session strengthened school preparedness by reviewing emergency roles, evacuation procedures, and communication protocols with teachers and staff.

Participants practiced rapid-response steps and coordinated drills to ensure students’ safety during earthquakes, fires, and other emergencies. The topic emphasised teamwork, clear leadership, and regular drills to maintain readiness and protect the school community.

The activity also provided practical tools and checklists for the SERT to use during incidents, fostering stronger links between Katipunan MFS and the school for faster, more effective emergency response.

Katipunan MFS personnel under the leadership of FINSP RICHARD A PARAME led a successful damayan sa kapitbahayan at Purok 9, Barangay San Antonio, Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte. The OLP masterplan focused on community resilience and practical preparedness for island barangays.

Volunteers and responders practiced evacuation routes, and household fire prevention tailored to the area’s sandy terrain, where fire trucks cannot access. Neighbors shared resources, information, and emergency contact plans.

This activity strengthened local ties and improved readiness for future incidents, ensuring that even hard-to-reach areas receive coordinated support and practical solutions.

FIRE SAFETY AWARENESS |
EDITH AND FIRE EXTINGUISHER LECTURE

OOA 1500H 16 August 2026, FO2 Mark James B Ydayan and FO2 Junrel V Villarin of the Katipunan Municipal Fire Station conducted an Exit Drill in the Home (EDITH) and a lecture-demonstration on the proper use of a fire extinguisher at the Emma Tagbac Boarding House at Brgy. Dos, Katipunan, Zamboanga del Norte.

The activity aimed to enhance the residents’ awareness and preparedness in responding to fire emergencies, emphasizing the importance of knowing proper evacuation procedures and the correct use of fire extinguishers.

EDITH (Exit Drill in The Home) is a core fire safety and prevention activity actively promoted under the BFP Oplan Ligtas na Pamayanan (OLP) program.
