LGU Kiblawan Municipal Information Office

LGU Kiblawan Municipal Information Office ! ! The name “Kiblawan” was derived from the two lovers’ named Kib and Lawan. They considered it as a significant event.

Lawan was a daughter of a B’laan Chieftain living in Tumbag (sitio of Kiblawan) while Kib was an ordinary settler of the same tribal community. Their love was strongly opposed by the parents of Lawan that led to the untimely death of both lovers. The aborted engagement won sympathy over the people in the community. Kib-Lawan became a popular combination, and was chosen to be the name of the place.

Kiblawan was the name of the Barangay, now known as Barangay Poblacion prior to the creation as a municipality. The seat of municipal government was established in the said barangay hence, the name Kiblawan of the Municipality was adopted. The Municipality of Kiblawan was created by the virtue of Republic Act No. 4748 on June 18, 1966 signed by his Excellency President Diosdado Macapagal.
