The Bureau of Fire Protection - Cotabato Province headed by FSUPT REGINALD L LEGASTE, Provincial Fire Marshal, together with the Philippine National Police, Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and Armed Forces of the Philippines, ensured public safety throughout the week-long Kalivungan Festival 2026 celebration from August 26 to September 1 .
Reinforced by personnel from various BFP municipal stations across the province, our team was deployed to provide fire safety, emergency response, and security assistance to thousands of festival-goers, participants, and fellow government workers who joined the festivities at the Provincial Capitol grounds in Amas, Kidapawan City.
The BFP also played a vital role as part of the Incident Management Team (IMT) for the festival, with selected BFP personnel designated as Planning Section Chief, Safety Officer, Situation Unit Leader, and Resource Unit Leader – ensuring a well-coordinated and systematic approach to public safety and emergency response throughout the celebration.
BFP personnel were present at various festival venues and activities, including:
Opening Ceremony – Led by Governor Emmylou "Lala" Taliño-Mendoza at The Basket, Capitol Compound
1st Heraldic Ceremony for the Proper Disposal of Worn-Out Philippine Flags – A solemn ceremony held at the Provincial Capitol grounds where old, torn, and faded Philippine flags were properly retired through ceremonial burning in accordance with Republic Act No. 8491 (Flag and Heraldic Code of the Philippines), witnessed by BFP, PNP, BJMP, and AFP personnel
Yaman ng Cotabato Travel and Trade Expo – showcasing agricultural products and local enterprises
Kavurunan Festival – featuring cultural dances and music ensemble by Indigenous Peoples
Kapagana Festival – highlighting Cotabato's cultural heritage
Drum and Lyre Competition – held on September 1 at the Capitol grounds
Culmination Ceremony – Led by Governor Taliño-Mendoza, celebrating the successful week-long activities
