The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Cotabato Provincial Office, in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Kidapawan City, conducted the Cotabato PRODUCE (Product Development, Uplifting, Consultation and Enhancement) session, through its One Town, One Product (OTOP) Program, for local food producers which was held on April 15, 2026 at the City Convention Center, Kidapawan City.
The initiative provided 37 Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from various municipalities in Cotabato Province with technical training aimed at improving product marketability and operational standards. The curriculum focused on three core pillars: Packaging and Labeling, Branding, and Food Safety and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP).
This program serves as a foundational intervention to help local food processors meet the rigorous requirements of the formal market. By aligning local production methods with national food safety standards and modern branding techniques, the session prepares these businesses for wider distribution and increased competitiveness.
As a direct result of the program, all 37 MSME beneficiaries received professional technical assistance to upgrade their current product logos and labels. This ensures that the theoretical knowledge gained during the session is applied to the physical branding of their goods.
Furthermore, the participating MSMEs have been integrated into a long-term development track, with guaranteed invitations to future specialized training programs and workshops.
This partnership between DTI Cotabato and LGU Kidapawan reflects a sustained effort to strengthen the local food industry and support the economic growth of the provinceโs MSME sector. -end-
