The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Cotabato Province, through the RAPID Growth Project, conducted validation and monitoring of 11,406 tissue-cultured Cardava seedlings distributed to 27 farmers of the New Caridad United Farmers Association last July 29, 2025.
A total of 17 farmers were assessed through on-site farm visits to evaluate planting status, survival rate, and plantation expansion. Results showed a 10% mortality rate due to pest and disease incidence, environmental stress, and varying farm management practices. Despite this, the majority of seedlings were successfully established.
The activity also provided an avenue to capture farmersโ concerns, particularly on pest and disease management and proper crop care. Technical guidance and practical approaches were recommended to improve farm productivity and ensure sustainability.
