Lake Sebu, South Cotabato — A total of 493 beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) received SIM cards with 25GB of free monthly data from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) during a distribution activity held at the Barangay Gymnasium of Klubi.
According to Atty. Remond G. Saligumba, the initiative forms part of DICT’s mandate to provide free internet access, especially to residents living in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA).
One of the recipients, Princess Angel Baay, an incoming first-year college student, shared that the SIM card would greatly help her in her studies and online learning needs.
“Isang malaking bagay na din po itong sim card dahil makakatipid ako sa gastusin sa pagaaral,” Baay said.
Meanwhile, Bonifacio V. Selma Jr. encouraged the 4Ps beneficiaries to value the assistance provided by the national government, emphasizing that they were fortunate to be selected as pilot recipients of the program in region 12.
“Marami ang gustong magkaroon ng ganitong pagkakataon, kaya’t pahalagahan ninyo ang tulong ng nasyunal na pamahalaan,” Selma said.
The program aims to improve digital connectivity and access to online services among underserved communities in remote areas.

The initiative aims to empower geographically isolated and disadvantaged areas (GIDA) by improving digital connectivity and providing families with better access to communication, education, government services, and online opportunities through the DICT Bayanihan SIM Program.
According to Benilda Cortez, Provincial Link of South Cotabato, access to information and internet connectivity, especially among Indigenous Peoples (IP) communities, will help bring government services closer to the people.
“Internet connectivity helps bridge the digital divide and ensures IP communities are not left behind in technological advancement,” Cortez said.
The distribution of SIM cards under the DICT Bayanihan SIM Program will continue in GIDA areas across Region 12 until the end of May 2026.

LAKE SEBU, South Cotabato — Love and commitment took center stage as 42 couples from Barangay Ned formalized their union in a mass wedding ceremony last April 18, 2026, a significant step toward securing a better future for their children.

According to Benilda Cortez of South Cotabato Cluster Office, during the registration of the new set of beneficiaries, most of the families do not have marriage contract that made them tap local government office to address the lack of civil/marriage documents among quaified families of 4Ps program.

“This activity is more than just a ceremony—it is an investment in the stability and dignity of families,” Cortez added.

To the participating couples like Mr. & Mrs. Simon and Lukela Unda, this mass wedding allows them to legitimize their relationships, ensuring that their families are properly documented and recognized.

“Dugay nami ga uban pero wala gyud mi nakasal kay wala mi budget,” Unda said.

(We’ve been living together for years but we not yet legally married due to financal constraints).

The mass wedding gave them the long-awaited opportunity to legalize their relationship.

For many of the newlyweds, the ceremony was both a fulfillment of a long-held dream and a practical step toward improving their children’s future. With legal documentation in place, they can now more easily comply with 4Ps requirements and access government assistance designed to uplift their quality of life.

𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟏𝟖, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 | A total of 𝟒𝟐 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐬 tied the knot during the 𝑲𝒂𝒔𝒂𝒍𝒂𝒏 𝒔𝒂 𝑩𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒚 held at the 𝑩𝒓𝒈𝒚. 𝑮𝒚𝒎 𝒊𝒏 𝑵𝒆𝒅, 𝑳𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝑺𝒆𝒃𝒖. These couples are potential beneficiaries for Set 14 registration of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

The 𝑴𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒑𝒂𝒍 𝑨𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 𝑻𝒆𝒂𝒎 𝒐𝒇 𝑳𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝑺𝒆𝒃𝒖 successfully facilitated this meaningful activity in collaboration with the 𝑩𝒂𝒓𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒚 𝑳𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑮𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒕 (𝑩𝑳𝑮𝑼) 𝒐𝒇 𝑵𝒆𝒅, the 𝑴𝒖𝒏𝒊𝒄𝒊𝒑𝒂𝒍 𝑪𝒊𝒗𝒊𝒍 𝑹𝒆𝒈𝒊𝒔𝒕𝒓𝒂𝒓 (𝑴𝑪𝑹), and the 𝑳𝒐𝒄𝒂𝒍 𝑮𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒏𝒎𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑼𝒏𝒊𝒕 𝒐𝒇 𝑳𝒂𝒌𝒆 𝑺𝒆𝒃𝒖. The civil wedding ceremony was officiated by 𝑯𝒐𝒏. 𝑨𝒏𝒕𝒐𝒏𝒊𝒐 𝑺. 𝑭𝒖𝒏𝒈𝒂𝒏 𝑱𝒓., who solemnized the marriage of 42 couples. Meanwhile, the IPMR of Barangay Ned, 𝑫𝒂𝒕𝒖 𝑬𝒎𝒎𝒂𝒏𝒖𝒆𝒍 𝑾. 𝑳𝒂𝒃𝒊 officiated the tribal rites of 24 couples, honoring the cultural traditions and heritage of the community.

The meaningful ceremony was also witnessed by the 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒗𝒊𝒏𝒄𝒊𝒂𝒍 𝑳𝒊𝒏𝒌 𝒐𝒇 4𝑷𝒔 𝑺𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒉 𝑪𝒐𝒕𝒂𝒃𝒂𝒕𝒐, 𝑴𝒔. 𝑩𝒆𝒏𝒊𝒍𝒅𝒂 𝑩. 𝑪𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒆𝒛, 𝑹𝑺𝑾, 𝑴𝑺𝑺𝑾 together with her staff, showing strong support and commitment from the provincial program management in empowering families and strengthening community partnerships.

This initiative was proposed and spearheaded by the 𝟒𝐏𝐬 𝐌𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐚𝐥 𝐋𝐢𝐧𝐤𝐬 assigned in Barangay Ned, in response to the lack of civil documents among potential beneficiaries, particularly marriage certificates. Through this activity, couples were given the opportunity to legalize their union, which is an important requirement for program registration and access to government services.

More than just a mass wedding, the Kasalan sa Barangay symbolizes the government’s commitment to empowering families, promoting legal identity, and strengthening community partnerships. It highlights how collaborative efforts between local government units, community leaders, and program implementers can create meaningful opportunities that uplift and support Filipino families.

Layunin ng programang ito na hikayatin ang mga benepisyaryo ng 4Ps na mag-ipon at palawakin ang kanilang kaalaman sa wastong pamamahala ng pananalapi, tungo sa mas matatag at ligtas na kinabukasan. 💰✨
