📊 Empowering SOCCSKSARGEN Through Data! 🇵🇭

Earlier today, CPD XII Regional Director Desiree Concepcion U. Garganian shared the population and development implications of the 2024 Census of Population (POPCEN) during the 2026 Regional Celebration of National Statistics Month, highlighting how demographic data can guide the region’s development priorities and investments.

With SOCCSKSARGEN’s population reaching 4,462,776, RD Garganian emphasized that the census is more than a headcount—it is a strategic guide for people-centered planning, responsive public services, and investments that address the needs of every generation.

“So, what does the 2024 population count mean for SOCCSKSARGEN? It tells us that our region has 4,462,776 people. But the more important message lies in the structure and distribution of our population—nearly three in ten are children, about two-thirds are of working age, and the number of older persons will continue to grow.

This presents a window of opportunity, but it is not automatic. We must invest in children to build human capital; equip adults with health, skills, and economic opportunities; and prepare our institutions for healthy and dignified ageing. This is our investment agenda.

The 2024 POPCEN provides a vital guide for where SOCCSKSARGEN must invest in people, strengthen essential services, and deepen partnerships. CPD XII joins the 37th National Statistics Month Opening Motorcade

With the theme "Tuklas Pilipinas: Statistics as Beacon Toward Inclusive, Resilient and Sustainable Tourism," various regional line agencies kicked off the 37th National Statistics Month in the SOCCSKSARGEN Region on October 1, 2026, by participating in the opening motorcade along the main thoroughfares of Koronadal City to highlight the vital role of statistics and bring the month-long celebration directly to the community.

📌 𝐂𝐏𝐃 𝐗𝐈𝐈 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐋𝐆𝐔𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐏𝐎𝐏𝐃𝐄𝐕 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔–𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟖

CPD XII successfully conducted the Program Assessment and Updating of POPDEV Capacity Development Plan of LGUs – Batch 3 on September 15–17, 2026 at Microtel by Wyndham, General Santos City, bringing together LGU partners from Cotabato Province.

Through interactive discussions, workshops, presentations, and technical coaching, participants assessed existing POPDEV initiatives, identified capacity development gaps, and updated their plans for 2026–2028.

The activity strengthened collaboration among LGUs and their partners toward more responsive local planning and stronger POPDEV implementation that supports inclusive and sustainable community development.

LOOK: The Commission on Population and Development (CPD) XII represented by Regional Director Desiree Concepcion U. Garganian presented the Adolescent Pregnancy Situationer in SOCCSKSARGEN and outlined initiatives to curb teenage pregnancy, during the 3rd Quarter Regional Coordinating Committee on Health (RCCH) Meeting on September 28.

In response to this the committee moved to pass resolutions enjoining LGUs to generate data on its causes and effects to tailor responsive interventions.

Ang pamilya ay mahalagang pundasyon ng isang maunlad na komunidad. Sa tahanang may pagkakapantay-pantay, respeto, pagmamahal, at malasakit, mas nagkakaroon ang bawat bata ng ligtas at matatag na kapaligiran upang lumaki, matuto, at maabot ang kanilang buong potensyal. 💙

Ngayong National Family Week 2026, ipinagdiriwang natin ang mahalagang papel ng pamilya sa pagtataguyod ng pagkakapantay-pantay at kapakanan ng bawat bata.

👥 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐲𝐞𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐃𝐨𝐥𝐞 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 came together to learn more about responsible parenthood and family planning, promoting informed decision-making, shared responsibility, and healthier family life.

The OPPO South Cotabato facilitated the discussion on responsible parenthood, followed by CPD XII’s session on family planning, highlighting the importance of informed choices, shared responsibility, and access to appropriate family planning information and services.

In partnership with FPOP, FP services were also made available to interested participants, bringing essential information and services closer to employees in the workplace.

Through workplace-based initiatives like this, CPD XII and its partners continue to bring responsible parenthood, family planning information, and reproductive health services closer to employees and their families.

The Commission on Population and Development XII successfully conducted the Population and Development Basic Leadership Course on September 7–10, 2026, at the EMR Suites, Koronadal City.

The four-day learning activity brought together CPD XII staff and population officers to strengthen leadership capacities, foster collaboration, and enhance their ability to respond to population and development concerns in their respective communities.

As part of the training, participants also took part in a Deep Dive in Barangay Caloocan, Koronadal City, providing an opportunity to gain firsthand insights into community realities, engage with adolescent mothers, parent leaders and local stakeholders, and connect leadership concepts with actual population and development concerns.

Through interactive learning and experiential activities, participants explored leadership, shared vision, meaningful partnerships, and Bridging Leadership, with emphasis on translating learning into co-creating meaningful action.
