Congratulations to the Municipality of Kumalarang for being recognized by the Department of Energy – Mindanao Field Office as one of the 58 outstanding LGUs in Mindanao, and among the seven LGUs in the Zamboanga Peninsula Region, during the 2nd Commendation for Excellence in Oil Industry Governance.

This commendation recognizes the LGU Kumalarang’s outstanding dedication, integrity, and exemplary performance in the Downstream Oil Industry Regulations within its respective areas of jurisdiction. Its continued support and cooperation have been instrumental in the Department of Energy’s efforts to uphold transparency, accountability, and efficiency in the downstream oil industry.

On a quiet afternoon in Clarin, Misamis Occidental, a young artist named MJ Chikoseñor, only 23 years old, sits before a blank canvas with nothing but a cup of coffee beside her. But this is no ordinary cup, it is her paint, her emotion, and her truth.

From the first stroke, MJ begins to brew a story not of comfort, but of reality. Her artwork, titled “Bitterness of Truth,” captures the silent cries of the poor, the innocent lives weighed down by greed and inequality. Each layer of coffee stain mirrors the dark moments of society, the kind we often choose to overlook. The aroma of coffee blends with the heaviness of her message, filling the air with both warmth and pain.

Yet within this bitterness, MJ plants hope. Her piece is not a lament, but a call to awaken, to see what has long been hidden behind the curtains of apathy. She reminds netizen that only by facing the bitter truths of life can we begin to understand, and through understanding, ignite the first spark of true change.

Through her art, MJ proves that even the simplest medium, a humble cup of coffee, can reveal the deepest truths of humanity, one drop at a tim.
