Students seeking financial assistance for college may now apply for the governmentโ€™s Bagong Pilipinas Merit Scholarship Program (BPMSP), with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) opening applications for the first semester of Academic Year 2026โ€“2027.

The Commission on Higher Education โ€“ Cordillera Administrative Region (CHED-CAR), represented by Ms. Christine M. Soriano, Education Supervisor II and StuFAPs Focal Person, participated in the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) Caravan conducted on May 26, 2026, at the Municipal Hall Grounds, Poblacion, Tuba, Benguet, as part of the celebration of the 1st Farmersโ€™ and Fisherfolksโ€™ Month 2026.

The activity, spearheaded by the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA) in partnership with the Municipality of Tuba, highlighted programs and initiatives aimed at supporting farmers and strengthening sustainable agricultural development in the region. CHED-CAR was invited by the PCA in recognition of the important role of the education sector in empowering communities and providing greater access to educational opportunities for deserving learners, particularly those from farming and rural families.

During the caravan, Ms. Christine M. Soriano shared information regarding the Bagong Pilipinas Merit Scholarship Program (BPMSP), one of CHEDโ€™s newest scholarship initiatives designed to expand access to quality higher education opportunities for deserving Filipino students.
The PCA Caravan also featured the distribution of coconut seedlings, technical assistance, and orientations on programs under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan.
Through active collaboration with partner agencies and local government units, CHED-CAR continues to support initiatives that promote inclusive education, community empowerment, and sustainable development.
