Yesterday, the La Trinidad Municipal Advisory Group for Police Transformation and Development (MAGPTD) convened for its 3rd Quarter Meeting.

Key Agenda & Highlights:

• Review of the successful culmination of the 31st Police Community Relations (PCR) Month last July 2026
• Planning and preparation for the upcoming 2nd MAGPTD Golf for a Cause, following the success of its inaugural edition
• Drafting a Resolution strongly urging schools to craft policies prohibiting student liquor consumption and the bringing of deadly weapons into school premises

🚨 STATE OF CALAMITY DECLARED IN LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET

The Sangguniang Bayan of La Trinidad has declared a State of Calamity through Resolution No. 374-2026 due to the adverse impacts of the combined effects of Tropical Cyclones Luis and Maymay, the Enhanced Southwest Monsoon (Habagat), and African Swine Fever (ASF).

The declaration will facilitate immediate response, relief, rehabilitation, and recovery efforts for affected communities.

On a recess during today’s 33rd Sangguniang Bayan Regular Meeting, Vice Mayor Atty. Guiller Galwan joined Mayor Roderick Chiok Awingan at the Mayor's Office - La Trinidad for a productive dialogue with Mr. Patrick Tela, a representative from the Office of Senator B**g Go.

Vice Mayor Galwan initiated discussions with Mr. Tela regarding key legislative resolutions the Sangguniang Bayan La Trinidad Benguet can pass to support the continuous development of the municipality.

Following the discussion, PLTCOL Zacarias P. Dausen Pnp La Trinidad Mps escorted Mr. Tela and his staff as they proceeded to visit the landslide survivors here in Benguet.

Earlier today,Vice Mayor Atty. Guiller Galwan sat down with PTV Cordillera news team for an interview to discuss the specific parameters, guidelines, and threshold requirements considered before declaring a State of Calamity.

Talked about what goes on behind the scenes from local disaster risk assessments to damage reports to ensure that every decision made by the municipality is timely, lawful, and centered on getting assistance where it’s needed most.

During this morning’s flag raising ceremony at the Municipal Gym, Mayor Roderick Chiok Awingan and Vice Mayor Atty. Guiller Galwan joined by Councilors Horacio Jun Ramos Jr. Jr., Tyrone Tibong Diaz , and Richard Wacnisen focused on our municipality's biggest priority right now. keeping our valley protected from recurring typhoon hazards.

Mayor Awingan stressed the importance of moving forward with a comprehensive master plan for long-term disaster resilience. Working alongside the executive team, Vice Mayor Galwan assured everyone that the Sangguniang Bayan La Trinidad Benguet is standing by for the official resolution from the DRRMO. Once received, the council is ready to act immediately on declaring a State of Calamity to fast track aid and resources to people.
