𝗧𝗔𝗡𝗢𝗗𝗦 𝗚𝗢 ‘𝗕𝗔𝗖𝗞 𝗧𝗢 𝗦𝗖𝗛𝗢𝗢𝗟’ 𝗙𝗢𝗥 𝗙𝗜𝗥𝗦𝗧 𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗣𝗢𝗡𝗗𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗡𝗚

Class is in session for the 281 tanods of La Trinidad as the first batch attended the introductory lessons on the Barangay Tanod Manual and Training Curriculum at the Cordillera Career Development College (CCDC) on September 5.

Aimed to professionalize and further capacitate local enforcers, the activity tackled the tanods’ role as agents of peace and development, their desirable traits, and the importance of courtesy and discipline in public relations.

Attorneys Jingboy Atonen, May Flor Kibiten, Jenelyn Lapas, Joey Artem Torres, Gerald Paul Bandonill, and Israel Naason Bandonill from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Baguio-Benguet Chapter extended their services as resource speakers.

Joining the event to inspire the participants were Legal Officer Atty. Victor Singa Jr., Local Government Operations Officer Ma. Teresa Mangangey, and Administrator Atty. Franco Bawang Jr., who represented Mayor Roderick Awingan.

The program will run for four Saturdays until September 26, 2026 and is a joint initiative between the Municipal Legal Office, Department of Interior and Local Governance (DILG), IBP Baguio-Benguet Chapter, and the CCDC College of Law as a major highlight of the National Crime Prevention Week.

𝗜𝗻 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝘂𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗵

The Municipal Health Services Office (MHSO) is one with the nation in commemorating the Su***de Prevention Month this September through activities including this photobooth set up at the municipal Rural Health Unit at Barangay Puguis.

Here, municipal officials led by Mayor Roderick Awingan and Vice Mayor Guiller Galwan together with councilors Horacio Ramos, Jr., Richard Wacnisen, and Tyrone Diaz showed their support to the activity with the MHSO personnel and interns led by Non-Communicable Disease Cluster Head Dr. Genevieve Wagang-Degay.

The La Trinidad MHSO carries the tagline: "napateg ka, waday namnama" in support of the national su***de prevention month commemoration, as a continuing reminder that mental health is important and no one is alone in their struggles and that help is always available.

𝗕𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗮𝗯𝗼𝗻𝗴, 𝗢𝗿𝗠𝗶𝗻 𝗼𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀, 𝗦𝗞 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁 𝗟𝗧

The officials of the municipality of Bongabong, Oriental Mindoro led by Mayor John Michael Malaluan and Vice Mayor Jayson Barcelona together with the Sangguniang Kabataan officials led by SK Federation Chairperson Jeremy Roman Abel, visited the municipal local government unit on September 5 for their benchmarking activities.

Mayor Roderick Awingan hosted the officials from the first-class coastal municipality of Oriental Mindoro together with Executive Assistant Atty. Delmar Cariño who explained the town’s program on binnadang as rooted from the culture of the indigenous people of the Cordillera, Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Officer designate Arthur Pedro who talked on the solid waste management of the municipality, Local Youth Development Officer designate Orlando Pacya who spoke on the youth programs of La Trinidad, and Tourism Officer Valred Olsim who guided the SK officials in the various tourism programs and during the latter’s visit to some destinations in town.

The Bongabong youth also exchanged ideas with the municipal heads with regard to the programs of each municipality not only for the youth, but for the wider communities that they are serving.

𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗮𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗳𝗼𝗹𝗸𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗼𝗮𝘁𝗵 𝗮𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗯𝗼𝗿𝗵𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗪𝗮𝘁𝗰𝗵 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿𝘀

As the 10th barangay to join the Neighborhood Watch Group, volunteers from Barangay Poblacion took oath today as members of the larger volunteer binnadang (bayanihan) group of the municipality.

Mayor Roderick Awingan and assisted by Barangay Captain Manuel Amoy Jr. administered the oath of the 36 volunteers from the various sitios of Poblacion.

Kagawad Bruno Siadto Jr., head of the peace and order committee, NWG Focal Person Hilda Obar, and the La Trinidad Municipal Police Station represented by Lt. Cresilda Maestre and staff also attended the activity. The latter discussed the police-community partnership through the flagship program of the mayor, which aims to gather volunteers from the various barangays to take part in making sure that their neighborhoods are safe and sound by being a proactive member of their communities through the organized Neighborhood Watch Group.

The municipal government led by Mayor Roderick Awingan would like to thank the office of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go represented by Patrick Tela, Carol Tibayan and staff for providing food packs for the 400 beneficiaries coming from the farmers and solo parents as identified by the senator’s office in coordination with the MLGU.

The senator’s staff earlier visited the affected families of the landslides in Barangay Shilan and in Atok to provide for necessary aid.

𝗟𝗧 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗕𝗮𝗴𝘂𝗶𝗼'𝘀 𝗦𝗺𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿

In a bid to upgrade the municipality's emergency operation center, Mayor Roderick Awingan together with Administrator Atty. Franco Bawang, Jr., Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Yoshio Labi, and La Trinidad Municipal Police Station Chief Lt. Col. Zacarias Dausen visited Baguio City's Smart City Command Center on September 3 at the basement of the Baguio Convention and Cultural Center.

John Carlo Erpelo, the Technical Team Leader of the Smart City Command Center briefed the officials of the systems and inner workings of the center and answered query from the municipal heads. The digital Baguio Smart City Convergence command center was launched in September 2021 to improve public safety, traffic, and local government services using artificial intelligence.

Awingan said the municipality is currently upgrading its own emergency operation center, with the ongoing process of procuring more CCTV cameras and systems for its main road, that's why Baguio City's command center is a benchmark that the municipal LGU could emulate. La Trinidad's emergency operation center is currently located at the 4th floor of the MDRRM office.

ONGOING MASTER DRAINAGE PLAN MEETING. Municipal and barangay officials, heads, and community members are racking their brains to come up with a drainage master plan for La Trinidad in an ongoing consultative meeting at the Lednicky Hall today, September 4.

Presenting the initial proposal, Municipal Engineer Benedict Pineda also briefed the council of ongoing projects in Bayabas, barangay Pico and Palmaville, barangay Puguis.

Additionally, an aerial video of the Bolo Creek revealed boulders affecting the smooth and continuous flow of water.

Meanwhile, DPWH Benguet 1st District Engineering Office tabled a proposal of their own based on their research.

Mayor Roderick Awingan, Vice Mayor Guiller Galwan and Councilors Jayson Dangwa, Bartolome Baldas Jr., Tyrone Diaz, Belmer Elis, and Richard Wacnisen proactively raised their concerns on the blueprints.

NEWLY APPOINTED BRGY. POBLACION KAGAWAD TAKES OATH. Mayor Roderick Awingan swore in Glenn Melchor Literato as a new kagawad of barangay Poblacion on September 2 at the municipal hall.

Replacing his father, Daniel Literato Jr., who is recovering from a health condition, Literato was accompanied by Punong Barangay Manual Amoy Jr. and kagawads Delfin Atinyao, Crisaluna Ampaguey, Rumulus Sobremonte, and Julian Pelitan Jr.

Councilors Tyrone Diaz and Jayson Dangwa were also present to attest to the induction.

𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗽𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀’ 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆

In the wake of school shootings that rocked the nation, various agencies from the region gathered to join the “nationwide simultaneous school safety drill for active attack incidents” at the DepEd-CAR office on September 3.

The inter-agency activity is the start of a collaboration for the planning and implementation of proactive safety measures in response to active attack incidents in schools according to DepEd-CAR Assistant Regional Director Ronald Castillo.

Castillo said the agency is already planning on strengthening the teacher-parent-child collaborations such as engaging the parents by mounting trainings on responsible parenting and other competencies to guide children, and training of student governments on peer-related activities.

The agencies joined the nationwide activity via Zoom livestream where the simulation, shown on the screen, was conducted at C.F. Conzales High School in Bulacan.

“We are hoping to institutionalize these activities such as conducting safety drills so our children would build muscle memory just like during earthquake drills,” Castillo said.

Mayor Roderick Awingan, in his message, acknowledged the responsibility in being part of the village that raises a child. He assured coordination with the Department of Education, schools and agencies to ensure safety in the municipality, with the town currently beefing up its communication equipment in its emergency operation center to help in peace and order and public safety.

La Trinidad Municipal Police Station Chief Lt.Col. Zacarias Dausen said the Incident Command System should be first established in order for the agencies to know their roles during incidents. He said aside from the planned safety drills, another proactive measure would be to strengthen security in schools to prevent contrabands from getting in which could deter potential attacks from within.

Also present during the activity were Department of Interior Local Government (DILG)-CAR Assistant Regional Director Ruperto Maribbay Jr. who presented the 911 national hotline, DepEd Benguet Division Superintendent Carmel Meris, representatives from the Benguet Provincial Police Office, Benguet Mobile Force Company and representatives from the Napolcom.
