BAGUIO CITY// The Teacher Education Council (TEC) conducted the culminating activity of its Orientation Workshop on the Pilot Implementation of the System to Affirm Career Stages for Teachers and School Leaders on August 28-30, 2026, at El Cielito Hotel, Baguio City.
The activity brought together 30 teachers and five school heads from the Baguio City Schools Division Office, representing Mabini Elementary School and Hillside National High School, and three multigrade schools from the Schools Division Office of Benguet: Talingguroy Elementary School, Balucas Elementary School, and Pagal Elementary School.
To ensure the Cordillera Administrative Regionโs (CAR) representation in the pilot implementation, DepEd-CAR Regional Director Nicolas T. Capulong, PhD, CESO III volunteered the region as a pilot site, with the support of Assistant Regional Director Ronald B. Castillo and Human Resource Development Division Chief Rosita C. Agnasi.
The Regional Focal Team is composed of Laureen B. Likigan, Regional Focal Person, and Arnel B. Lim, member. Education Program Supervisors Mary Jane Malihod of the Schools Division Office of Baguio City and Jennifer Pinlac of the Schools Division Office of Benguet, together with the school heads, raised practical concerns on the systemโs alignment with existing teacher performance and professional development mechanisms, including the Results-Based Performance Management System, Expanded Career Progression, Classroom Observation Tool, and National Educators Academy of the Philippines professional development programs.
The orientation strengthened participantsโ understanding of the systemโs tools, processes, evidence requirements, and the respective roles of teachers, school heads, and education offices in the pilot implementation.
As the culminating activity of the TEC orientation, DepEd-CAR's participants are expected to provide field-based insights and feedback toward a fair, transparent, standards-based, and evidence-informed system.
