The agricultural landscape is evolving rapidly, driven by advancements in technology, shifting market dynamics, and increasing demands for sustainable practices. Today, being a successful farmer requires more than just traditional agricultural knowledge; it demands strong business management skills to ensure long-term profitability. To bridge this gap, the Farm Business School (FBS) programβcollaboratively developed by the DA, ATI, DAR, and FAOβwas created to equip farmers with the essential business acumen needed to navigate modern agriculture. However, the true success of this initiative relies heavily on the quality and effectiveness of its educators.
Recognizing this crucial need, the Phase 1 Training of Trainers on the Farm Business School Curriculum was successfully conducted from May 25-29, 2026, at ATI-RTC-CAR, BSU Compd., La Trinidad, Benguet. The activity utilized a blended methodology, engaging both face-to-face and online participants.
This specialized training is vital for creating a strong foundation of knowledge and teaching methodologies. By participating, our trainers acquired a deep understanding of the FBS curriculum, gaining the precise tools and techniques required to break down complex business concepts into practical, accessible, and highly relevant lessons for our farming communities. Moreover, the program prepares these educators to address the diverse needs of farmers by thoughtfully factoring in local contexts, cultural elements, and varying levels of prior business knowledge.
By investing heavily in the development of our trainers, the FBS program not only enhances the immediate impact of its learning sessions but also ensures its long-term sustainability and scalability. These well-trained educators will continue to mentor others, creating a powerful ripple effect that extends the program's reach to even more farming communities. This self-sustaining model builds continuous learning, strengthens the overall resilience of the agricultural sector, and fosters innovation. As our trainers become more proficient and confident in their roles, they will ultimately help our farmers build more robust, profitable, and sustainable farm enterprises.
