Sta. Catalina, Ilocos Sur | The 4th Special Forces “MABANGIS” Company, under the 2nd Special Forces “SABERTOOTH” Battalion, in partnership with the 1st CMO Company, 12th CMO Battalion, successfully conducted a two-day Static Display of Unit Weaponry and Capability, alongside an Information Awareness Campaign regarding the West Philippine Sea, on 17–18 November 2025 at the Sta. Catalina Auditorium.

The goal of this initiative was to inform, educate, and engage the local community on critical national defense matters, with a focus on the strategic importance and national significance of the West Philippine Sea. Through a compelling display of specialized equipment, live demonstrations, and interactive learning booths, attendees gained a deeper understanding of ongoing security challenges and the vital role the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) plays in safeguarding the nation’s maritime domain.

This event also aimed to increase public appreciation for the Philippine Army’s professionalism, dedication, and unwavering commitment to defending national sovereignty. Visitors had the opportunity to interact with Special Forces operators, gain insights into their missions and capabilities, and witness firsthand the vital tools and expertise necessary to protect the country’s territorial integrity.

The event attracted over 325 attendees from various municipalities within the province. It was spearheaded and supported by Municipal Mayor Eugene R. Rapanut, whose presence underscored the LGU’s strong commitment to promoting national security awareness and supporting the AFP’s advocacy campaign.

The 4th Special Forces “MABANGIS” Company and the 2nd Special Forces “SABERTOOTH” Battalion extend their deepest gratitude to the LGU of Sta. Catalina, partner agencies, and community stakeholders for their steadfast support. Their continued collaboration strengthens the shared mission of cultivating an informed, resilient, and patriotic citizenry.

Brgy. Buhawen, San Marcelino, Zambales | 5th Special Forces “JAGUAR” Company brings Vital Medical Services to Aeta Community

Demonstrating steadfast commitment to community welfare and inclusive development, the 5th Special Forces “JAGUAR” Company under the 2nd Special Forces “SABERTOOTH” Battalion successfully conducted a comprehensive Medical Mission in Brgy. Buhawen, San Marcelino, Zambales, guided by the theme “Kalinga at Kaunlaran: Kabalikat ang Bayan para sa Malusog at Matatag na Kinabukasan.”

This initiative, conducted in partnership with the 69th IB, 702nd IBde, 7ID, PA and with the support of the Special Forces Regiment (Airborne), was successfully executed through the dedicated efforts of the Medical Team from the Civil Military Affairs Brigade, AFP Reserve Command, which rendered a total of 1,325 medical services to 709 members from the Indigenous People (IP) community of Brgy. Buhawen. The accomplishment of this mission was further reinforced through the unified support and interoperability of 12th Civil Military Operations Battalion, CMOR, PA, alongside the Local Government Unit (LGU), civilian stakeholders and the Department of Health (DOH) of San Marcelino.

The collective efforts exemplified the enduring spirit of Bayanihan and demonstrated the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ steadfast commitment to extending essential services to underserved and geographically isolated communities through sustained civil-military operations aimed at enhancing public health, strengthening community resilience, and fostering inclusive national development.

The medical mission addressed essential health needs of the Aeta community through various free services, including: medical consultations, dental services, opthalmology services, circumcision, haircut, and distribution of relief goods. These services provided immediate relief while promoting long-term health awareness among the community.

The 5th Special Forces “JAGUAR” Company, 2nd Special Forces “SABERTOOTH” Battalion extended its gratitude to all participating units, government offices, and volunteers whose dedication embodied the essence of kalinga and kaunlaran, ensuring that no community is left behind in the nation’s journey toward progress.

2nd Special Forces Battalion Conducts HADR Operations during the Onslaught of Super Typhoon UWAN

The 2nd Special Forces “SABERTOOTH” Battalion, Special Forces Regiment (Airborne), Special Operations Command, Philippine Army, in coordination with the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices (MDRRMO) of affected localities, has launched extensive Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Response (HADR) operations in the wake of Super Typhoon UWAN, which severely impacted several provinces in Northern and Central Luzon.
Under the leadership and guidance of the Joint Special Operations Task Group 2, the 2nd Special Forces Battalion swiftly mobilized its personnel and resources to support rescue, relief, and rehabilitation efforts in Bataan, Zambales, Ilocos Sur, Ilocos Norte, Cagayan Province, Batanes Group of Island and Isabela—areas that bore the brunt of the typhoon’s devastating winds and torrential rains.
The three (3) line companies of the battalion provided search and rescue (SAR) operations, evacuation assistance, medical aid, and relief distribution to affected communities. Working hand-in-hand with local government units (LGUs), MDRRMOs, and other government agencies, the troops have been instrumental in clearing debris, transporting stranded civilians, and delivering essential goods to isolated barangays.
In addition to immediate response efforts, the 2nd Special Forces Battalion has been conducting Disaster Resiliency Operations through its Community Responders Training program. This initiative aims to empower local residents with the knowledge and practical skills needed to effectively respond to emergencies and natural disasters within their communities, enhancing preparedness and cooperation between the military and civilians.
