The SDO-Ifugao team, led by OIC-SDS Virginia C. Amogan-Batan and OIC-ASDS Pio D. Ecuan, visited Asipulo Central School and Asipulo Central School Annex in Asipulo District on June 1, 2026, to monitor the implementation of Brigada Eskwela activities and engage with stakeholders following the Division Brigada Eskwela Kick-Off held at Cawayan Elementary School.

During the visit, Asipulo CS headed by Jocelyn Dupingay was congratulated together with the ALS Teacher Donita A. Canduya and ALS learners for attaining a 100% passing rate. Their dedication, perseverance, and commitment to learning were recognized and praised by the monitoring team.

The ALS learners expressed their gratitude to the Department for its continuous support and guidance. Their achievement serves as an inspiration to others and highlights the transformative impact of inclusive education, and promoting lifelong learning.

The Schools Division Office of Ifugao successfully kicked off Brigada Eskwela 2026 today at Cawayan Elementary School, Asipulo District, bringing together Division Officials, Community Partners, and Stakeholders in a vibrant show of unity and volunteerism. The event featured a lively caravan joined by CAFGU members, barangay officials, PTA officers, parents, and learners, followed by an opening program graced by Board Member Hon. Alberto Binlang Jr. and other local partners. Activities included a reading program, child protection and anti-bullying advocacy sessions, free haircuts for learners, and school clean-up and improvement effortsโ€”including the construction of a school latrine. Generous support from stakeholders highlighted the spirit of Bayanihan, with donations of paint materials, books, and a pledged grass cutter for campus maintenance.

On May 29, 2026, at the Provincial Evacuation Center in Patin-ay, Agusan del Sur, Jespher Lee Tunge Nabanalan of Lagawe National High School, Boliwong, Lagawe, Ifugao brought pride to the province after winning the Silver Medal in the 60-kilogram Weightlifting event, competing against athletes from sixteen regions during the Palarong Pambansa.

Jespherโ€™s achievement reflects his determination, discipline, and unwavering commitment to the sport. Despite not having the opportunity to compete in last yearโ€™s Palarong Pambansa when weightlifting was classified only as a demonstration sport, he remained focused on training and pursuing his goal of representing Ifugao with excellence.

His success stands as a testament to the power of perseverance and resilience in overcoming challenges. DepED-SDO Ifugao proudly congratulates Jespher Tunge Nabanalan for this remarkable accomplishment and for bringing honor and inspiration to the people of Ifugao.

A ceremonial groundbreaking was held for the construction of a temporary one-classroom school building on the 3,073-square-meter lot donated by Maโ€™am Maribeth Liwang for the proposed elementary school at Tulpu-an, Nattum, Mayoyao, Ifugao . The school will serve 12 learners from Kindergarten to Grade 6 under the guidance of Maโ€™am Mary Ann Bandao, with the supervision of School Head Marlon Tomecwa and PSDS Isabel Chug-e.

This initiative was made possible through the support of the MLGU of Mayoyao, led by Hon. Mayor Jimmy Padchanan Jr., Hon. Vice Mayor Rudy Chilagan Jr., Hon. Barangay Captain Joseph Poy-ao, and all school heads in the district.

OIC-SDS Virginia C. Amogan - Batan expressed gratitude to everyone for their continued collaboration and support in bringing the school near the community. She also challenged the school heads in Mayoyao district to leave a legacy to the school that may one day be under their supervision.

As part of its continuing advocacy for mental health and wellness, the team headed by OIC-SDS Virginia C. Amogan-Batan, together with Honorable Mayor Jimmy Padchanan Jr. and Vice Mayor Rudy Chilagan Jr., enjoyed a meaningful walk and refreshing swim at the beautiful Tenogtog Falls in Mayoyao, Ifugao, following the district meeting on May 28, 2026.

The activity highlighted the importance of physical activities in improving mental health and collaboration among stakeholders.

In preparation for the opening of classes for School Year 2026โ€“2027, the SDO-Ifugao team, led by OIC-SDS Virginia C. Amogan-Batan, attended the District Meeting held on May 28, 2026, at the Municipal gymnasium ,Mayoyao, Ifugao.

Policies and updates under the Learning Systems Strand were presented by CES-CID Evangeline A. Dulnuan, while important information and reminders concerning the Schools Governance and Operations Division (SGOD) were discussed by CES-SGOD Jacqueline C. Lunag.

In her closing message, OIC-SDS Virginia C. Amogan-Batan encouraged everyone to understand the purpose behind the changes and to continue doing their part, emphasizing that teaching is a noble profession that goes beyond performance because teachers help shape lives.

OIC-SDS Virginia A. Batan also thanked the Mayoyao District led by PSDS Isabel Chug-e for the initiative and challenged everyone to make their classrooms warm and welcoming so that children will always feel happy and excited to come to school and see their teachers.

Amogan-Batan participated in the 2nd Quarter 2026 Provincial Peace and Order Council and Provincial Anti-Drug Abuse Council Meeting held on May 20, 2026 at the Tanglaw Lahi Hall IPPO, Poblacion North, Lagawe, reaffirming the commitment of the Division to peacebuilding, public safety, and anti-drug advocacy in Ifugao.

The meeting highlighted the presentation of accomplishments and significant updates from various agencies, as well as discussions addressing community concerns and strengthening public safety.
