𝐂𝐨𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐆𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐜𝐭 𝐍𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐧 𝐌𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐢𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐌𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐚𝐲 𝐌𝐨𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐬 𝐈𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧

The Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao (CGDNM), under the leadership of COMMO DENNIS REM C LABAY PCG, Commander, CGDNM, conducted its regular Monday Morning Colors and Barracks Inspection today, June 01, 2026, at Headquarters CGDNM. Participated in by Officers and Enlisted Personnel, the activity reaffirmed the District’s commitment to discipline, professionalism, and adherence to the core values of the Philippine Coast Guard. The Morning Colors Ceremony served as a solemn occasion to honor the national flag, strengthen esprit de corps, and instill a renewed sense of duty and responsibility among personnel.

Following the ceremony, a comprehensive barracks inspection was conducted to ensure compliance with established standards of cleanliness, orderliness, safety, and accountability within living and working spaces. Such inspections are essential in promoting a culture of discipline and operational excellence, contributing to the overall readiness and effectiveness of Coast Guard personnel.

Through these continuing initiatives, CGDNM upholds the highest standards of service and professionalism, ensuring a capable and responsive workforce dedicated to safeguarding lives, protecting the marine environment, and securing the maritime domain in Northern Mindanao.

The Coast Guard Education, Training and Doctrine Command, through Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao, convened the Coast Guard Station Commander's Course Class 21-2026 with COMMO DENNIS REM C LABAY PCG as Keynote Speaker at Headquarters CGDNM, yesterday, May 21, 2026 gathering 36 selected officers for specialized leadership training.

The course is designed to enhance administrative proficiency, operational readiness, and strategic decision-making, aligning competencies with maritime governance standards.
Said course covers maritime safety, environmental protection, law enforcement, and resource management, equipping participants with the skills and values needed to lead with integrity, accountability, and distinction.

COMMO DENNIS REM C LABAY PCG emphasized that the true measure of command is not authority or power, but the ability to guard public trust, resist corruption, and uphold honor even when unobserved.

As such, this initiative marks a vital investment in the future of the Philippine Coast Guard and its mandate to secure the maritime domain. As Class 21-2026 undertakes this course, CGDNM reaffirms its commitment to developing a capable and principled workforce ready to serve the nation’s maritime communities with excellence and integrity.

LOOK: The Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao conducted its second quarter physical fitness test to all CGDNM personnel, including Coast Guard Stations, Coast Guard Sub-Stations, and Operational Control Units.

This activity serves as a vital measure to assess and ensure that every member maintains the strength, endurance, and physical capability required to fulfill their duties effectively. Hence, not only build a stronger and more capable force but also nurture a safer maritime environment, proving that their readiness is the shining light that guides and protects our waters day and night.

The Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao advises the public in relation on BFAR Region 10’s Local Advisory No. 2 regarding water discoloration first spotted May 9, 2026 in Brgy. Silanga, Tangub City. Tests found Gymnodinium and Pleurosigma species; until toxin analysis results are out, avoid eating dead fish or shellfish from affected areas. Fresh fish, squid, crab, and shrimp are safe if cleaned, gutted, and washed properly, but swimming there is discouraged. The station continues monitoring and patrols for safety and environmental protection, and urges vigilance and reporting of unusual incidents.
