Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao (CGDNM) proudly joined maritime stakeholders and partner agencies nationwide in the simultaneous blowing of ships' horns, marking the official kick-off of the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MaNa Mo) 2026 celebration.

This nationwide activity, led by the Philippine Coast Guard together with the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), Philippine Ports Authority (PPA), and other maritime agencies, sets the tone for a month-long celebration highlighting the Philippines' identity as a maritime and archipelagic nation.

CGDNM remains committed to promoting maritime safety, environmental protection, and search and rescue readiness across Northern Mindanao's waters safeguarding lives and the marine environment we all depend on.

The Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao (CGDNM) conducted simultaneous Morning Colors Ceremony across its Stations and Sub-Stations in commemoration of National Heroes Day.

With discipline and reverence, officers and personnel honored the courage, sacrifice, and patriotism of the nation’s heroes as the Philippine flag was raised.

The ceremony also served as a renewed pledge of service, reflecting CGDNM’s commitment to uphold maritime laws, protect Northern Mindanao’s waters and serve the people with honor, dedication, and vigilance.

Heroism lives on through service above self and unwavering commitment to duty.

Aligned with President Ferdinand R Marcos Jr's Bagong Pilipinas vision, the PCG remains steadfast in advancing its Intensified Community Assistance, Awareness, Response, and Enforcement (iCARE) campaign and Organized National Engagement (ONE) at Sea strategic concept to promote safer seas and a more resilient ASEAN community.

The Philippine Coast Guard, through Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao, proudly marks another milestone in its modernization journey with the inauguration of the Macajalar Bay Vessel Traffic Management System (VTMS).

More than a state-of-the-art facility, the VTMS serves as the eyes of our waterways—enhancing real-time vessel monitoring, strengthening maritime domain awareness, improving emergency response, and ensuring the safe and efficient movement of vessels in one of Northern Mindanao’s busiest maritime corridors.

Graced by VADM EDGAR L YBAÑEZ PCG, Deputy Commandant for Operations, Philippine Coast Guard together with ATTY. JOSEPH DONATO J. BERNEDO, Administrator and CEO of the PHIVIDEC Industrial Authority, VADM GENITO B BASILIO PCG, Commander, Maritime Safety Services Command, VADM ARNALDO M LIM PCG. Commander, Coast Guard Weapons, Communications, Electronics and Information System Command, the inauguration reaffirms a shared commitment to advancing maritime safety, security, and economic growth in Northern Mindanao.

As the Philippine Coast Guard continues to modernize its capabilities, the Macajalar Bay VTMS stands as a testament to innovation, collaboration, and proactive maritime governance. This initiative reinforces the PCG’s iCARE commitment by strengthening maritime safety through intensified community awareness, enhanced emergency response, and effective maritime enforcement.

LOOK: The Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao (CGDNM) commenced the week with the conduct of its first Monday Morning Colors Ceremony of the month today, August 3, 2026, reaffirming the Philippine Coast Guard's unwavering commitment to patriotism, discipline, unity, and excellence in public service.

The ceremony served as a reminder of every Coast Guardian's solemn duty to uphold the Philippine Coast Guard Core Values and faithfully carry out the organization's mandate of ensuring maritime safety and security, protecting the marine environment, and safeguarding lives and property at sea.

𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐜𝐮𝐞 𝐎𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐨𝐟 𝐚 𝐅𝐞𝐦𝐚𝐥𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐮𝐚𝐥 𝐈𝐧𝐯𝐨𝐥𝐯𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐍𝐞𝐚𝐫-𝐃𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐧𝐭

LOOK: On 25 1700H July 2026, personnel of Coast Guard Station Misamis Occidental (CGS MISOCC), in coordination with Coast Guard Sub-Station Ozamiz (CGSS Ozamiz) and the Special Operations Unit – Misamis Occidental (SOU-MISOCC), immediately responded to a report of a female individual in distress in the waters off Cotta Beach, Brgy. Baybay Triunfo, Ozamiz City, resulting in a near-drowning incident.

Through the prompt and coordinated response of the Coast Guard units, the victim was successfully rescued from the water and was found to be conscious and responsive. During the initial interview, the victim disclosed that she had intended to end her life due to unresolved family problems while under the influence of alcohol.

Following the rescue, the victim was safely turned over to Brgy. Kagawad Eduard Q. Uy of Brgy. Tinago, Ozamiz City, for appropriate intervention, further assessment, and coordination with the concerned local authorities and social welfare agencies.

The successful rescue operation highlights the prompt response, professionalism, and effective coordination among the responding Coast Guard units, reaffirming the Philippine Coast Guard’s commitment to safeguarding lives and ensuring maritime safety.

In line with its commitment to building a more capable, responsive, and service-ready workforce, the Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao (CGDNM) thru Office of the Deputy Chief of District Staff for Education and Training (D12), in close coordination with the Nursing Service Unit–Northern Mindanao successfully conducted series of Basic Life Support - Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation with Automated External Defibrillator (BLS-CPR/AED) Trainings for CGDNM personnel and personnel from other partner agencies stationed across Northern Mindanao.

The training aimed to enhance the lifesaving skills of personnel by equipping them with the knowledge and practical competencies needed to respond effectively to medical emergencies. Participants underwent comprehensive instruction on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the use of automated external defibrillators (AED), management of choking incidents, and other essential emergency response procedures.

Conducted by qualified Coast Guard Nursing Service Unit - Northern Mindanao personnel, the BLS trainings formed part of CGDNM's continuing capability enhancement program to ensure that every Coast Guard member is prepared to deliver immediate and effective medical assistance during maritime operations, search and rescue missions, disaster response, and other emergency situations.

By strengthening the lifesaving capabilities of its personnel across its area of responsibility, CGDNM reaffirms its unwavering commitment to safeguarding lives at sea and on land while delivering prompt, professional, and compassionate public service.

LOOK: The Coast Guard Inspector General and Internal Affairs Service (CGIG-IAS), headed by RADM OLIVER S TANSECO PCG, Inspector General, CGIG-IAS and Chairman, AGI Team who was represented by CAPT NOEL A SARZA PCG, Vice Chairman, AGI Team, successfully conducted the Annual General Inspection (AGI) on Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao (CGDNM) from 15-18 July 2026.

The AGI was conducted to comprehensively assess the district’s operational readiness in carrying out its mandate, ensuring the efficient utilization of government resources, and evaluating the effectiveness of existing policies, procedures, and management systems. The inspection also identified areas of excellence and opportunities for improvement to further strengthen organizational performance and enhance the delivery of public service.

The inspection covered various evaluation components, including Operational Drills, the Moral and Development Survey, the Swimming Qualification Test, Physical Fitness Test, Gun Safety Familiarization, Office Management and Records Inspection, and Rank Inspection.

Hence, by thoroughly examining both core operational capabilities and administrative governance, the AGI team ensures that CGDNM remains fully equipped, properly aligned with national directives, and consistently prepared to safeguard maritime interests, protect coastal communities, and deliver responsive, reliable assistance to the public whenever duty calls. Beyond compliance and verification, this collaborative review process and nurtures continuous learning, drives targeted innovation, and unites every member of CGDNM in a shared pursuit of greater efficiency, transparency, and service distinction, laying a solid foundation for stronger maritime security, safer waters, and more impactful public service throughout the area of Northern Mindanao and beyond.

The Coast Guard District Northern Mindanao (CGDNM), led by COMMO DENNIS REM C LABAY PCG, joined the inauguration of the Port Operations Building and Light Craft Landing Station at the Port of Benoni, Mahinog, Camiguin, graced by His Excellency President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.

The newly inaugurated facilities mark a significant milestone in strengthening the country’s maritime transport infrastructure, enhancing port operations, improving inter-island connectivity, and supporting economic growth and tourism in Northern Mindanao.
