OKADA MANILA, PARAÑAQUE – In a powerful display of cultural pride, Marizza Delgado, representing the Filipino Community of New York, took to the stage at the Miss World Philippines 2026 Charity Gala to perform the Madal Tahu, a sacred dance of the T’boli people from Lake Sebu, South Cotabato.
The gala, held on January 29 at the Grand Ballroom of Okada Manila, served as a key preliminary event for the national pageant. Delgado’s performance was not merely a routine but a tribute to the indigenous Dreamweavers of Mindanao, traditionally a dance reserved for royalty.
Meaning true dance, the Madal Tahu is an imitation of the movements of Knaban, the elder sister of the T’boli mythical hero Tudbulul. For the performance, Delgado worked closely with The Dreamweaver Collective The Dreamweaver Collective and wardrobe consultant hellocecille Hello Cecille to ensure every detail of her attire remained authentic to the T’boli identity.
Delgado, a data scientist and former Miss New York USA 2024 finalist, continues to be a standout in the 2026 Miss World Philippines circuit. Following the Charity Gala, she was named one of the top performers in both the Swimsuit and Top Model categories.
The Miss World Philippines organization is emphasizing its Beauty with a Purpose mission this year, and Delgado’s focus on cultural preservation and women in STEM has positioned her as a frontrunner ahead of the finale.
