On August 18, 2026, Corn Coordinator Orven June Sarabia Marañon with corn farmers attended Field Day on TECHNOLOGY PROMOTION IN THE INTEGRATED PEST MANANGEMENT APPROACH AGAINST FALL ARMYWORM at Barangay Bagumbayan Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.

This activity aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the integrated pest management (IPM) approach against Fall Armyworms in glutinous corn aligned to food safety in Western Visayas.

Treatments are as follows;

I. Cultural - intercropping of Mungbeans and Lemon Grass.
II. Biological controls - earwigs, trichogramma and metarhizium
III. Chemical - systematic and contact/stomach

Corn Coordinator Orven June Sarabia Marañon facilitated the releasing of Foliar and Humus WSG, part of the package received by Corn farmers under the Corn Production Enhancement Program (CPEP) at Pandan warehouse, Barangay Pandan Lambunao, Iloilo.

CPEP is a program of DA-RFO VI aimed to increase corn production and productivity and raise the income of corn farmers through techno support and interventions. It provides seeds, fertilizers and capacity building.

On August 13, 2026 farm produce from Cluster 7 were displayed in front of Lambunao New Government Center. Livestock Technician Norbz Mallorca Loraña with AEW assigned Rouze Fontaine Loraña conducted field investigation on the report of a dead pig found in the river at Barangay Maribong Lambunao, Iloilo. Coordination was made with the barangay officials and advised on biosecurity measures to prevent the spread of diseases.
